Andris Biedrins may not be a Warrior for long (?)

Andy Miller and co. represent a lot of NBA players.
One of them is Kevin Garnett.
Another is Patrick O'Bryant.
Another is Stephane Lasme.

Bill Duffy and co. represent a lot of NBA players.
One of them is Andris Biedrins.
Another is Kosta Perovic.

Agents have too much power. Either that or our front office is a bunch of weakling bufoons.

They took quite a stand post-KG fallout if I'm making up stories.
I'm not. I'm just sayin'.

At least the Perovic signing bodes well for us... we did Duffy a huge solid right there.

Seriously. Warriors never seriously considered signing Garnett to the extension he eventually got as far as I've heard. I wonder how long the talks with Minnesota actually lasted. They happened - EVERY team had talks of some sort on Garnett - but the Warriors missed because of cash if anything.

Perovic's contract was a "large" Duffy favor that still has not convinced Duffy to give a premature hometown discount to the Warriors. What a wonderful expense as we cut Stephane Lasme and O'Bryant for no good reason.

If Biedrins goes to Memphis, oh boy.

We've seen some good progress in the front office, in several respects, but Mullin has been the point man on Biedrins talks until very recently and this is the year Rowell and the rest need to prove they can keep real talent now that they've convinced folks they can move bad money with the best of 'em.

If Biedrins goes to Memphis, I'm a heat fan overnight.

I get very depressed about this organization whenever I peek behind the curtain.

There's been very little progress in the front office on the basketball competitive success front. We're back in the lottery, and probably next year as well. The B.O. people may have gotten better at keeping to boss fat and happy, but he's in this for money, not rings. Mullin may suck wet balls, but hanging everything on him is naive. He was someone else's hire, and he hasn't been fired. The buck stops in someone else's office.

Everything has been a dog and pony show since Spuds was hired with basically no winning FO experience (and very little winning NBA experience if we're being honest about it.) Our GM was hired because his name could sell tickets. He's was a glorified casino greeter. Same for the Monty hire - Stanford cache was supposed to sell corporate seat packages in silicon valley. The least marketing friendly move we made in the last 10 years was trading the choir boys for Stephen Jackson and that probably made the biggest positive basketball difference on the floor in the Cohan era. We cut salary in that deal, so alienating some "purist" STH $'s was a wash. The money is all that has mattered around here for a decade.

That's our organizational culture right there: Anything for a buck.

:sigh:

did the period already begin where teams can negotiate extensions with players finishing rookie contracts?

Interesting, if you think this means anything I guess we can cross Serge Ibaka off the draft list, as he is also represented by Miller.

Can i steal this; Mullin = Casino Greeter Absolutely gold.

I believe that Nelson was pushing the KG deal very hard. I also believe that we would have won out had Ainge not made the Ray Allen deal. McHale was acting tough and asking for to much, but had Ainge not done that deal, we'd have won out. My opinion.

Are you just talking about the formal negotiating period?

Because the contract positioning has been ongoing since Biedrins' value was established as a top 10 NBA C last year, continuing to more like top 7 or 8 and climbing this past season. Signing a lowball contract this offseason after Nelson manipulated his playing time so aggressively - and Biedrins NOTICED - is not on Bill Duffy's to do list.

Yeah man, totally. Our FO is just like so manipulative and lame. I bet they sit around all day in the Castle of Grey Skull just thinking of ways to screw the fans out of a winning team while still being able to squeeze money out of them.

You know what you guys should do as a sign of protest against this evil regime? Stop being fans of the team. That'll show 'em!

Sorry, but listening to this is like listening to a bunch of wackos talk about how the Freemasons and the Illuminati are controlling the world from secret lairs in the Swiss Alps.

But I will play along just for a second.

So let me ask you something: If Biedrins found out that Perovic was signed just so that Bill Duffy could get the Warriors a cheaper deal on Andris' extension, dont you think he would be pissed? Perhaps so pissed that he would fire Duffy, costing Duffy millions of dollars?

Seems like a risky stategy to take to get a contract for a backup center and the resulting small commission check.

But you are probably right, just like you are right about most things that you say about how dumb and weak this franchise is.

I noticed that too, and due to the lack of public hype around him, its a safe bet he's in the 2009 draft. I dont know at what point Ibaka switched agents, as about 5 months ago his Spanish agent was guaranteeing he'd be a 2008 draftee as a PF.

I don't know who's convinced the kid to try and be a SF but they oughta be shot...

I'm not too worried about a Biedrins extension... Mullin's not going to let his one draft victory just waltz away amidst the recent failures (Diogu/"POB"/Busty), and Duffy walked away with a guaranteed multi-year deal on a finished product in the Serbian league who was extremely not dominant... Beans will get paid - not even our FO could bungle that one.

BASELESS SPECULATION FOR IMMEDIATE DISPOSAL. Carry on.

Any chance you could come up with some baseless speculation that makes the Warriors look like a good (or at least competent) organization with a team on the rise?

I like how you aggressively try to intimidate posters you disagree with.
Your Busty is God rants are baseless Kool Aid products, my Busty is busted so far posts tend to be pretty measured.

I've been very complimentary of Robert Rowell's management of Chris Mullin's screw ups and I'm satisfied with Chris Mullin's good work in letting his good friend Bill Duffy sell him on Biedrins a few years ago. I am very happy with Ellis, Biedrins, and Wright and OK with moving Richardson for Wright.

I liked the trade of Dunleavy, Murphy, and co. for earlier cap relief and players Nelson could do more of what he wanted with. Nelson has been a lot of fun to have back. I still would have liked to have signed Dunleavy and Richardson at better rates and kept them past the one year of miracles with a healthy contract push Baron Davis.

But this team is far from out of the woods and keeping Baron Davis at some ridiculous rate or hyping Marco Bustinelli is no way to fix things. Ellis and Biedrins are not yet signed for the future and Harrington and Jackson are already reverting with Davis.

You hardly seem cheerful about much of anything and yet you irrationally hype the Warriors' future. Newsflash: they missed the playoffs and have done nothing to improve the team at all thus far. They regressed this year besides Ellis, Wright, and Biedrins.

Did Biedrins notice?
