Salaries match up perfectly. On Miami side I love it, but I don't think any trade should be one sided. What do you guys think?

To me a PG is more valueable than a SF or an undersized PF.

Did you see what Baron did in last year's playoffs against Dallas? He took over the game by himself, and was the reason why we beat Dallas. Also, Did you see what he did to AK47 in the conference semi finals? He almost killed him.
So no, Marion may be good, but we already have Pietrus, which is a better version of Marion anyways with better defense and athleticism.

For this coming season, I'd be sorely tempted to roll the dice and do this. I'm probably in the minority here. My memory tells me that Marion has an extra year on his deal. Is that correct? If so, that would factor into the discussion somewhere. And Marion seems to have pretty specific ideas where he wants to play, perhaps some situation that doesn't really exist. I don't want him if he's going to come here and start complaining immediately.

They are both in the final year of their contracts. I would do the trade because neither would be long term options for us and the Matrix makes us a better overall team.

I would be all for this move but I only see it happening if the HEAT are actually out for Beasley right now.

I want to watch Baron play for his next contract here more than the Matrix. I think his value will be higher at the trade deadline if the warriors find themselves in a position to move him and maximize his value in return.

I dont want Marion on this team.
I'll give you a point for originality though.

Baron and Matrix are about the same situation in their career.

I totally agree on keeping Baron at least until the trade deadline. That way we can evaluate our roster at that time. First we need to see what we end up with in the draft and if any of our picks (hopefully bigs) pan out. If Wright improves, which I think he will, and our draft pick(s) show promise, we may not want to trade Baron at all. If not, we should definitely try to trade Baron for an elusive hard nosed big man. I'm not sure if I can stand watching the Warriors for too much longer if Baron and Jackson are going to be our two leading shot takers. Frickin' chuckers.

I do think with Marion the overall team in the short term will be better. Marion will take playing time from Wright, but if Al is moved in another trade, I think there will be enough minutes to go around. Al has to be traded in my mind to make this work.
Ellis will then have the point to himself a season early and that is the future.
Marion's trade value IMO will be greater than Baron's at the deadline.

I'm pondering a lineup of Monta-Jax-Marion-Al/BWright-Biedrins. A few things come to mind.
- Trading Baron for a non-PG at this point makes the leap that we're willing to go through some growing pains as Monta continues to learn how to play point in the pros. I'm okay with that, but there would be some bumps.
- We'd go from playing very short to playing reasonably big.
- Outside shooting is suspect. If Al plays the 4, then the shooting gets better, but the rebounding and interior defense again become suspect.
I don't know that I think such a team would be tons better or worse than what we have now.

It all depends on what Baron will resign for, if its at this current rate or more than Id do the trade, because now it becomes BD or Marion for one year.
I think it would be easier to find a servicable point guard then it would be to find a quality 4 right now. Im thinking we can get TJ Ford, Carlos Arroyo, maybe even Billups. If not we see if Monta is the answer at the 1 and make adjustments from there.
I like the idea alot actually and Marion can run Nellies offense at the 4 no problem and can rebound with anyone in the league.

Although a straight up trade of Baron for Marion seems to make sense on the surface (since they both have pretty much identical deals), I don't see Marion being interested (I think one of the incentives for him to come here would be to play with Baron).
I still maintain the trade I have proposed which would be Al + Jack or Pietrus S & T + #14 + Perovic for Marion and in a separate deal use the TPE to acquire Blount (this is the big sweetener for Miami). I do not believe that there are too many teams out there who are going to be that interested in Maron (or at least that intereseted in giving equal value in return to Miami). The ablove deal might be the best one that they can get. Don't resign either Marion or Baron (give them just a 1 season run), sign Biedrens and Ellis and after the season's over, then (depending on how they perform) resign either one or both of them or be a big player in the juicy upcoming FA market (they'll have the potential to knock 36 million off the books).
With a roster of Baron, Marion, Ellis, Biedrens and Jack or Pietrus as a nucleus they'd be a very interesting and exciting team for at least a year. This is also a team which would be at least worth considering going into a lux for a year.
