couldnt help but notice a quality pg is soon to opt out. how convenient...thats a position we need.

Pargo is streaky from what little ive seen, but his jumper can help the Warriors out.

Admit it, you fell in love with the guy when he chucked his team out of the playoffs.

Quality PG = (19m) 2.4 apg, 39% FG

Not ready to be PG = (40m) 4.6apg, 53% FG (from the "off guard" spot)

Ok, confession time. You're really joking at this junction, yes? It seems like you pick what would be absolutely worst for this team and then advocate it...

no thanks. I'd rather have someone that understands how to play PG backing up (and teaching) Monta.

Jwill would be the best candidate, but he would probably cost more than we could give. White chocolate is definitely a top 5 post entry passer in the league (as well as top 5 passer in general).

Jwill's con's are his defense (due to his lack of strength, athleticism, will to play D) and a tendency to huck a few transition 3's a game. Come to think of it, that fits our team perfectly. I'm okay with our backup PG having those flaws if it means having a premier passer backing up our project PG.

If Monta could incorporate some of Jwill's understanding of running both a half court and transition offense, Tay will be an absolute beast.

You guessed right!

Pargo seemed to do really well against us, but I've never seen or read anything to indicate that he does that well against much of anyone else. I don't hate the guy, but I don't see him as anything particularly interesting. Probably belongs on a roster somewhere, but not someone I'd go out of my way to get.

No need for him, we have Baron Davis, Top 5 PG, and Monta Ellis. Baron is going to teach Monta and Monta will be the backup PG starting SG.

So no, we don't need another PG.

those are two excellent reasons NOT to look at JWill. How about looking at Earl Watson?

Watson is too much $...but is more reliable than J Will who CAN do neat stuff but tends to go too hot dog or overcompensate and get conservative. Pargo would be fine at the right price.

Jwill is WAY more reliable than you remember from his kings days. I saw a lot of him this season and the high risk/low reward stuff has gone by the wayside. He runs a good halfcourt set now, has patience, and shows much better judgement on his chucking (though there is still some.) Maybe it was just watching Chris Quinn come in for him and getting torched by opposing garbagetime PG's, but it even seemed like Williams works harder on Defense now.

He's grown up substantially, and Riley has helped. I wouldn't disregard as less than Watson and Pargo doesn't belong in the same conversation.

Pargo is another Roberson. No thanks. If we are ok with a non-distributor backup PG, I'll take CJ. At least he goes to the rack.

Most importantly in Williams favor, while absorbing some of Riley's discipline, he still plays with some of that King's mentality. He makes passing fun (but without throwing the ball away hotdoggin now.) That kind of passer is contagious. He would definitely help the ballstoppers in the second unit function better.

Yeah, I haven't seen a ton of JWill in recent years, but what I have has indicated:
a) he's calmed down and is a more controlled player than he used to be. That's good.
b) he's worn down a lot. My memory is failing me (business as usual), but he has some nagging injuries that have really slown him down. That's bad.

He's probably still a plausible backup. As good as Pargo I'd say. But he's not what he once was, for better and worse.

If we acquired JWill, we could have a pool to see who's knees give out first, Al's or Jay's...

Saying he's about as good as Pargo is pretty accurate - they are both pretty bad options.

I know Pargo gets his 2 apg, but in all honesty, I've never seen one of them. He's Roberson with confidence.

I'd definitely take CJ over Pargo.

Watson (but too expensive and wants to start) > Jwill > CJ > Pargo.

What about Lue or Anthony Johnson?

Maybe vet minimums will get one of them?

I'd rather have either over CJ.

I wouldn't mind Johnson.... something about Lue annoys the hell out of me. I don't think i could handle watching him play for 5-10 mins a game.

Is it that he looks like he's 12 years old?

Yes! A 12 year old with a perpetual scowl on his face and corn rows... it's a good look for Ben Wallace, but sucks on a guy that looks like he'd be stopped at the "you must be at least this tall" ride at an amusement park.
