Playoffs, upcoming draft, offseason free agents pickups...

Post#1 » by darobster17 » Fri Jun 13, 2008 5:48 am

So after watching the Lakers give up a 24pt lead to go down 3-1, the W's FO must really acquire players that can rebound and defend if they want to go anywhere in playoffs/league. You know the W's are a bad rebounding team when the second best rebounder is Monta Ellis.

Their defense which is okay but rest soley on getting steals and causing turnovers that lead to their fastbreaks points also needs to improve.

In the upcoming draft, I'd like the W's FO to keep our #14th and somehow acquire another draft pick, late first preferably or early second...I don't care. Memphis and Seattle are the two teams I'd make a deal with.

With the first pick for the W's, I'd like them to get the best available player. In my opinion, Darrell Arthur or Donte Greene are the best players that fit the W's... Mareese Speights is also I think a possibility for the W's. Things could change as draft day approaches.

With our other draft pick at either 24th(Sonics) or the 28th(Memphis), I'd want to take the best defensive player. Hibbert could be that guy but I like Alexis Ajinca. I like what I saw from the Hoops summit.

With our second round pick, at #49th, I'd want them to take an athletic SG like Sonny Weems or JR Giddens. Or if Joey Dorsey is still there, I'd take him.

Josh Smith(S&T),Leon Powe, Chris Duhon, Jarvis Hayes,Ryan Gomes,Jermaine O'neal and James Jones are some of the 2008 Free agents that W's should target.

The two positions we need to improve on for next season is getting a defensive/rebounding frontcourt/wing player and capable backup PG/SG. Ryan Gomes/Leon Powe and Chris Duhon are the two players I'd like to see in a W's uni next season.

We need to get the younger ones since we are rebuilding with Monta, Biedrins and Wright.

The best at #49 might be Reggie Williams though there's always a guy who slips further than expected.

Weems graded well in combine tests but I never saw him play and his numbers don't insist he's got the skill side.

PG's Lester Hudson and Sean Singletary are guys to watch at 49. I also like Maarty Leuwen, who passes, boards, hustles and is a high % 3 shooter.

FA? We're limited to MLE . ATL won't S+T Josh Smith unless we overpay by quite a bit. O'Neal ain't an FA yet. Powe and Gomes? Yeah, but there will be other bidders. I'd think we intend to Keep Monta-Biedrins-Azu and we won't be wanting to even spend $4 mill on a free agent.

Who's NOT expensive? I'd keep an eye on Nick Fazekas or Justin Williams.

How about Kyle Weaver if he is still around at#49. He is an excellent defender.

Who i would take if available at 14 in this order.

Westbrook-becoming a huge fan and could play alongside Monta

Alexander-fit well into our system at the 3.

Greene-Better rebounding R. Lewis,.....few years down the road though

Arthur-Big Body we need

2nd round

I like Dorsey because he will make an imeediate impact on Defense but any big body in the 2nd with Defensive and rebounding skills would be adequate which is why i like taking the best player available at 14
