There are three teams that have two first round picks. Memphis,New Jersey and Seattle all have two first round picks. Dealing Harrington to his hometown, New Jersey makes the most sense and I'm sure that New Jersey would take him since they don't need another rookie and need a proven veteran to go along with Devin Harris,VC and RJ.
At #21, the W's have plenty of alternatives on what player to take and possibly revamp the W's bench. They also could deal Harrington to Memphis but I'd rather try to deal Harrington for Seattle's #24th instead of Memphis #28th pick...Or another rumor is sending Harrington for the Cav's #19th pick.
If the W's acquired another first round pick and made the right picks, I'd be happy. At #14th we take Donte Green. If we do pick up another first rounder I hope we take CDR or the best athletic big man available. That's what I would like see happen for W's upcoming NBA draft.

Re: Harrington dealt for another first rounder
When did a 2 year, 19m SF/PF with questionable legs become worth a 1st rounder?
If we can get one from CLE for him, great. I'd love a pick in the late teens (Ajinca/Ibaka as a long term project instead of Italian SGs sponsored by Pilsbury). But do you really think a team is going to give up a 1st to take on that contract? I have a difficult time believing that, no matter how desperate the Cleveland LeBron's are.

A team like New Jersey or Memphis or Seattle has a plethora of rookies so most GM's knows the importance of a balanced roster of rookies, veterans, journeyman and at least one big name player. I'm sure one Gm is going to gamble on giving up a draft pick if it helps their team in the short and long term. The W's could tangled the JRich TPE to take a player we could definitely use. Who that player is another story.
From Memphis, I'd take Mike Miller or Hakim Warrick.
From New Jersey, I'd want Sean Williams
From Seattle, I'd take Chris Wilcox.

Hell no, we should never give up a big who has range as Harrington does. Monta Ellis is so good because Harrington is always on the 3 point line so he doesn't clog up the lanes. Unless Wright learns the 3 point shot (bosh did), Ellis won't be as effective.

Re: Harrington for another first rounder?
Trading Al for a pick is tricky because Warriors would have to deal with a team either ~$9 mil under the cap or with a ~$9 mil TPE.
Even so, since Al is not going to merit a high pick (but an on the bubble team picking late could do it), Warriors are going to get more impact from Al than from that pick... so, pass.

I guess this is a good place to put this:

The interesting part to me is that Al has hired Fegan. I still don't think it will happen, but it might add credence to Hopper's contention that Al will opt out next year. It seems more likely to me that Al (through Fegan) is actively pushing for a trade.

That leaves Harrington, who will make a little more than $9 million next season, as a natural trade chip. The 6-foot-9 forward never made a big deal about riding coach Don Nelson's roller coaster last season, but clearly felt he was underutilized - a multi-dimensional big man often reduced to being a three-point shooter and scape-goat for the Warriors' rebounding deficiencies.
Harrington, who recently switched agents - from Arn Tellem to Dan Fegan - wouldn't be the first to feel that way (see Mike Dunleavy), and might not mind a change of scenery.

Al is slated to make a Hyundai over $10 mil in 2009-2010. Would he get close to that as a free agent?

In terms of getting a full MLE offer, yes. I guess I'm also in the small minority group that thinks he'll opt out next summer to get some long term security.

I can see trading Al for mostly a pick....but we'd also be taking back $9 mill + of...someone. I'm REALLY not into Greene at 14. He went totally bonkers as a 3 chucker and he's way less able to MAKE 3's than Al.. Speights is a rough-edged pick but fits the job description.
Seattle is interesting, has a late pick + rd 2's..but is loaded at F and Needs a G ( Belli?) Clev? The questin there is what of their junk contracts are we gonna eat.
Harrington is 6-9,mobile,has 3 range, has scored 14-18 per, positive attitude. don't underrate him as a trade chip or a keeper. It's too easy to go all feeding frenzy and have a sequence of trading off assets at a loss. This franchise has to stop that crap,be trading for a gain.
CENSORED... No comment.

The market has been set. A late round pick can just be bought for a few mil.

Cleveland seems to be the best fit for Al. Would Al for Snow and the #19 work? Snow is expiring and will make about two mil less than Al this season. Speights at #14 and then a choice between Chalmers, Lee, CDR, Ryan Anderson, or Bill Walker at #19.
