Cavs rumored to be interested in Al...

I'd do some deal centered around expirings + #19, or if they wouldn't do that something based on Varejao. Cavs fans seem to think Andy's days in Cleveland are numbered anyway, so I'd guess that would probably be the deal.

Hell no, Harrington is our most reliable three point person on this team.

All of the circumstancial evidence points to a Harrington & 14 for Varajeo, filler, and 19 with the Warriors drafting Jason Thompson.

I think that is the deal. Cavs like Harrington and want to draft Rush. Varejao was on the Warriors radar last season and Harrington's outside game better suits the Cavs.

Rush and Harrington would be good fits for Cleveland.

There is a trade restriction on Sideshow Bob because he had an offer sheet matched. Does that only prevent him from going to the team that made the offer last season? Or is it more interesting than that?

Why do we have to move down 5 slots to downgrade from Al to AV?
Al for #19 + AV + exp Filler
Al for #19 + AV + exp Filler

Re: Cavs rumored to be interested in Al...
Why would we want Varejao if we have Andris?
Varejao is a physical dude, but has no range. We can use him defensively on big guys and he will grab some rebounds.
But what position would he play? PF or C? Would he come off the bench before Wright?
I guess I dont know the W's plan in the frontcourt...

There's no way the warriors want Varejao..These early summer 08 rumors are dumber than most years...

I wouldn't even take Anderson Varejao even if he has skills of Michael Jordan.

We're not giving up our #19 pick for Harrington... No F'ing way. And Varejao on top of that? Sorry. Al is a nice player but not that nice. We already have two jump-shooting bigs and certainly don't need another.
Plus, this is just speculation. He said if the W's put him on the block, the Cavs might have interest.

Then the Cavs aren't really interested in Al. Al > AV, Al > #19. So no deal. Have a nice day.

Varejao plays defense and rebounds. Harrington can hit the 3. I am sorry but for playoff basketball I would rather have the younger guy that plays D and rebounds than the older guy that hoists 3 and struggles on D.
Cleveland Trades:
-Anderson Varejao
-19th pick
-Sasha Pavlovic
Golden State Trades:
-Al Harrington
-14th pick

Btw, Al also plays D, and he hits more then just 3's. What Al doesnt do is rebound and thats a known flaw.
If you'd rather have AV, then why are you trading him to us? So you can move up 5 spots?
Lets put it another way. I'd rather have Al then AV. I'd also rather have the 15th pick then the 19th pick. Therefore Warriors decline. Its not a bad idea, but its still a no go.
You might be able to convince me into Sasha and AV for Al, simply because of getting 2 players for the price of 1, but the pick swap is going overboard.

Re: Cavs rumored to be interested in Al...
That's the only logical trade that can be done predraft. But, I think this may have to be done after free agency starts where we get a signed and traded Devin Brown instead of Pav's bloated two year deal. The Warriors take Rush for Cleveland and the Cavs draft Thompson for GSW.
I can't remember where we're at cap wise after Baron's expiring. But, flip-flopping Al for Varajeo also shaves 3+ million off of 09-10 payroll, which is why I think they'd prefer not to take back Pav. Dropping 5 slots in the draft, getting the same player they would take at 14, also saves a few bucks.

I'd be fine with that but it doesn't work cap-wise...we'd have to make some money.

Trade checker says it works cap wise if the filler is either Damon Jones or Pavlovic and Verajao agrees to the trade.
Cleveland might consider Pavolic more than filler.
Barnes and Wright get Harrington's Power forward minutes and Verajao gets POB's, Kosta, Mbenga, Croshere's and of Harrington's back up center minutes and maybe a few power forward minutes. It's OK, nothing special, could help or hurt. A little more rebounding a little less floor spreading and therefore less FG%.

This is exactly the kind of trade the Warriors should do... adding guys who can play at an NBA level, instead of actually getting rid of players like many people have recommended.
Warriors were rumored to have liked Sasha last summer (Sasha for Pietrus), adding him now helps in that Pietrus and/or Barnes are likely gone, and sure - AV duplicates some weaknesses of our front court already, but having another big on the bench and in the rotation would help a lot.
He would have to stop flopping, though.
Then at #19, Warriors could select Jason Thompson.
Addressing a potential exodus at the 3 (especially if you count AL as a 3), and adding two more big men into the rotation - brilliant!
