I know it was a while ago but I think we should have kept Murph and left Al out of the deal. He is a better rebound than Al. Murph was a double-double machine while with the warriors. Al is also undersized while Murphy is bigger.

Al is a better defender, Murphy picked up garbage rebounds and was slow. He couldn't keep up with this team. I would take Al any day over Murphy. Plus Al helped the W's get into the playoffs last year.

Once Murphy injured his feet, his effectiveness was over. He would be a decent guy off the bench for a real contender.

Once his contract is up, he's either out of the league or a vet who contributes to a Spurs type of squad.

murphy is too slow to keep up with the power fowards. Al was a mismatch when we were on offesne and he was able to keep his ground for the most part on defense.

Al was who were wanted. Jack was a throw in...go figure

Murph sharply picked up his play as last season wore on.

Murphy's solid for a conventional offense but too way slow (maybe due in part to bad wheels) for Nellie ball.

Troy did look better than he had in a long time last season. That said, I'd take Al over Troy every time.

i loved Troys attitude at times...you know when hed dunk on somebody, get the and1, and throw the ball back at the dude that fouled him, and then grill him.

I don't want to say Murphy > Harrington but the whole "Nellieball" thing is that Nellie takes the transition speed priority a step to far and ignores the value of rebounds. Sorry kids..but a rebound IS a rebound. I never much bought that Murphy got "cheap" boards. Rebounds = possessions= successful stops or second chances. Murphy has an instinct for POSITION and he doesn't quit on a rebound opportunity. GSW F*****ed the dog encouraging Murphy to bulk up. At 230 he'd still be a solid plus on the boards but ALSO be mobile enough. Yeah...in theory we get 5 on 3 fast breaks. In reality....we get outboarded too much to really exploit that consistantly. I'm fine with 3 on 2 fast breaks and us having the edge on the boards.

$$$$$. Well, Murphy is overpriced,probably by a couple mill,and he ain't a C really. Al is overpriced a bit less...but he ain't really a PF. Indy figured out how to make Dun effective. They still have not done so with Murphy. Ike,has had a lot of minor injuries and has rarely been given the role or minutes to break out. If he can stay off the injury list a season he's gonna be a surprise someday-somewhere.
Fact is...we may have got the edge in the deal...but by less than we think.
We traded 3 guys with talents we failed to properly develop and use and got 2 guys who were well travelled but at least had some core game we could just plug in. Where a 'take back" would probably benefit us most is we kept Ike and he stays injury free and Nellie treats him like a legit All America who can become a 20/10 PF. Too many if's..but had it gone that way we'd be in good shape.

If you were the Warriors would you rather have Troy with 3 years left at 33 mil or Al with 2 yrs left at 19 mil? That trade was all about salary cap, plus Mike and Troy were not playing as well as expected. We were lucky to get rid of those contracts. Their numbers were a little better, but don't forget they were playing in the pathetic east.

No I would Keep AL... he's more of an athlete than Murphy is..

It's a wash to me, you get help in one area and you end up losing something the former guy brought to the table. Troy Murphy rebounds better and is a more consistent shooter inside the arc, at the foul line, and has better hands needed to secure passes/rebounds. Harrington at least tries to play any defense his body and lead feet can handle (charges, shotblock attempts, steals, whatever) and he has a more versatile offensive game. Both, I think, really stink inside the paint offensively and defensively, cannot defend weakside, and therefore are completely useless there when the tempo becomes a grind-it-out halfcourt game. I will give credit to Harrington for trying and staying with the play by grabbing several of his own missed layups and taking charges a la Mike Dunleavy Jr. What would Murphy do? I'll tell you what he'd do, he'd worry about his own man and let the center rack up the fouls for whoever blew their assignment on the perimeter. So 4 guys try to make stops and box out so Murphy can pad his stats and look good going against Tim Duncan or Mehmet Okur.

Oh yeah, both Murphy and Harrington appear to never pass the ball much. I doubt Harrington has time to pass the ball with all the 3's he's jacking on the catch and shoot, but with Murphy... jab step jab step jab step, fade away, brick! But I guess everything should be told within context, the Warriors simply did not have anybody that could create offense or remember any off-ball playcalling, other than the point guard, since there was no Stephen Jackson or Baron Davis. So Murph was forced to hold onto the ball a lot. Seriously, Derek Fisher, Dunleavy, Jrich, Murphy, Foyle was the biggest joke in terms of team offense. They don't complement each other at all.

I think Harrington is a more valuable player to us right now because of his versatility and greater all-around skill. I will say that. But he doesn't solve our lack of post presence nor our ability to defend the hoop (which includes defensive rebounding, ability to hold position, weakside help) nor our offensive game (which includes going to work early and getting deep inside position, having good hands to catch the ball, and having fundamentals in knowing which hand to use when everyone's swiping at the ball). It seems like Harrington will try to dunk when he should lay it up off glass or he'll throw up a shot that would have been a lot easier had he used his offhand and use the rim as protection.

I prefer Al...he is cheaper and more versatile, plus he is much easier to trade.

as to the OT.. give me Harrington over Muprhy all day everyday, after murph broke his nose and used it as an excuse and refusal to play center when we needed him there, that was the end of my loyalty to him.
