Baron for Odom and Farmar...Rumor

Post#1 » by Mylie10 » Mon Jun 23, 2008 9:13 pm

Just read this on WW.net Take it for what it's worth. Every year at this time this crap gets thrown around. But it's an interesting deal to say the least.

Can't say if I'd do it.

We need 2 or 3 Lamar type players here...He's a great fit next to the Latvian Wonder Boy, Brandon Spelled Wrong and our Mississippi Bullet.

If this went down, who'd you want at 14? Chalmers, or Ajinca, or maybe someone else?

Odom for Baron makes us longer, but we'd still need even more length up front..That's what I believe in..I'd take Ajinca if he was on the board (which he wont be).

Hell no, Odom is not consistant. He is as dumb as "Pietrus" even though Pietrus isn't dumb IMO.

Q: Hey Abyss, what do you think about sliced tomatoes?
A: Sliced tomatoes are great, but only if Mickael Pietrus is doing the slicing.

Ad nauseum.

Monta is too good of a scorer to "think" pass.

Provocative... I don't know if you're familiar with the saying, "Don't bring a knife to a gunfight", but you didn't!

As for the trade... that's an interesting one. I'm fine with trading Baron and taking a spin with Monta at the point, even though it may hurt us in the next year (after which it shouldn't much matter as Baron probably isn't here at that point anyway), as long as the player we get for Baron could make a real difference. Whether Odom is that guy is an interesting question. He certainly brings some things we could use. He can board, he's a good passer on the front line, and he'd remove some of the sting of losing Baron's post game. I'd be a bit concerned because he seems to perform better with lower expectations, and if you remove Baron then Odom would arguably be your #2 behind Monta. Not sure how he'd respond.

LF/Squid wants/likes length. A lineup of Monta, Jax, Odom, Wright, and Biedrins is quite a bit longer than what we have today; do you want longer still? Think Wright will take a few more years? Think Nelson won't let us find out if Wright needs a few more years? Other? We'd still lack a real bulky center type (well, other than Kosta heh), but I'm not sure I personally worry about that much.

Would totally do the deal.
Don't think Baron and Kobe would work in the same backcourt we'd watch LA slip a little in the west and then resign Baron in the big 2010 Free Agent Frenzy. Or Baron injury bug comes back and he misses significant games and then GS gets him back at a discount if Monta the pg doesn't work.

Oh C'mon....Baron is a BIG upgrade over Fish whether the rest of the squad is Kobe-Pau + whatever or Snow White and the 7 dwarves. I'd bet Phil J can figure out how to make it work.

Odum is sort of Dunleavy with some rebounding..which is okay. I STILL want more "big" coming in...in this case,Turiaff. LAL can have Kosta. On another level....I don't want to underestimate the impact Baron can have FOR the Lakers (or Clips or Blazers) who are WEST rivals we need to be intending to beat if being a contender is the plan. To LAL Odum is kind of the odd man out. Baron's penetrating can set up Pau + Bynum much better and give Kobe more high % shots too. Sash V probably plays most of the SF minutes and is more mobile for SF than Odum. Fish gets to specialize in diving at peoples knees, flopping and shooting the last second 3. Lakers later slip more untraceable cash to the Memphis ownership who deal Miller for Walton. It's the least they can do to give us Turiaf in the deal.
We give them a trophy.
CENSORED... No comment.

I would make this trade in a heart beat.

Then try and work with Denver on getting Camby for the trade exception.
We will need a Vet back up center.

Then it wouldn't matter who we drafted.
Although I would look for a small forward, Rush or Greene.
Rush could even play SG when Jax is at SF.

Ellis/Farmer
Bel/Azu
Jax/Har
Odom/Wri
Cam/Bie/Kosta

This would make Har even more expendable and give plenty of cap room over the next couple of years.
It wouldn't cost as much to extend Odom and he could always be traded away, we just need him long enough till Wright developes. Farmer is a good player, doesn't make stupid mistakes, not an all star, but solid.

If we can't get Camby, I would still try and bring in at least one vet back up center. Someone who can take fouls and bang with bigs.

If this deal happened then Jax moves to play more 2 guard.

Monta
Jax
Wright
Odom
Beans

Sick length. Wright and Odom aren't SF's but they are interchangable while playing next to each other.

Now with #14 we grab either Rush or CDR. That gives us a guy who can play SG or SF. Who in the future can look to start.

I can now look to do an Al trade. Odom gives us a more versatile version of Al. Better rebounding, better passing, better runner on the break. Better shot blocker. Al shoots the 3 better, but Odom's not bad from deep. Especially in a wide open style that we play.

My perameter for an Al trade is either 2 competant players, or one guy and a first rounder. With my newly aquired 1st rounder I can hopefully take Ajinca and groom him behind Andris. More sick length and lots of skills to work with.

At #49 I go after Dorsey, DJ White, Hendrix, Hardin, Darnell Jackson (whoever's there). Probably Jackson. Great motor and a chip on his shoulder. Hard worker and big heart. Rated really well on Hollingers crazy list.

Azu comes back. Barnes gone.

Pietrus is gone now.

Maybe Kurt Thomas can be had at a decent price.

Monta - Farmar
Jax - Monta - Belli - Rush
Wright - Jax - Rush - Azu
Odom - Wright - KThomas - Darnell Jackson/Dorsey
Beans - KThomas - Ajinca - DJack/Dorsey

Ajinca and Dorsey/Djack goes to the D-league until injury or trade happens.

The Harrington trade lands me a guy who gets cut. Can't think of who, except for a Gadzuric type. Or maybe Damon Jones. Either the Cavs, the Nets, or Milwaukee might be in the Harrington. Most likely the Cavs. I'm sorry but I don't want Varaejo. he just would take to much time from Andris. Andris is the ess!Or if we can grab a workable player out of the Cavs then fine.

Strictly rumors though.

Belinelli will get more playing time according to Nelson, so maybe -

Ellis/Farmar
Belinelli/Jackson
Odom/Pietrus
Wright/Speights
Biedrins/O'Bryant

My lineup is superior to yours because Pietrus resigns, and with his energy off the bench, we will be unstoppable. Watch out Celtics!
