I can't see the W's thinking that 9th in the West means we are almost a championship threat. VC has just a few good years left-Wright has a decade. Besides.....we'd need to send something beyond $10 mill in other assets.

SG? Not our need.

This idea has about a 0.5% chance.

But,yeah,14 is an awkward slot. The hype, raw talent is in the top 10. The sweet spot for value is at 25-35 and we are splat in the middle. I'm okay with a optimisyic pick of Speights as a guy who fits our top need. I like a FEW trade up ideas but see a LOT of good trade down options.

Where do you get this stuff from. 1 out of 40 guys picked 25-35 are even in the league after 3 years. What value?

The value you're seeing in a trade down is the value of the living breathing established NBA assets that dumb teams are willing to give you to move up a few meaningless spots from the 20's to the teens. There are like 8 career NBA players in each year's draft, and they ARE NOT in the mid 20's. The only real value of a teens pick is that you can get a dumb desperate team give up something to move up to it.

I think he's right for this year. Courtney Lee, CDR, DJ White, JJ Hickson, Nicolas Batum...lotta good picks there.

A thing that could be major either way. i do see Beasley as THE can't miss. I See Marion as a great fit here...but Nellie has gone way past logical bounds to waste high draft talent and Marion can walk away in a tear if not a happy (and well paid) camper. A lot of teams will probe Miami for Beasley,Marion or both, and Miami may realize that a mix of Wade and Marion+Beasley is a pretty special core.

CDR is not going to last to the 20's and DJ is the longshot. The rest of those guys are guaranteed poop.

The draft sucks. You know why they cut the NBA draft down to 2 rounds? because 3 rounds was POINTLESS. You're all being had.

I think that 45-60 is the sweet spot in the draft.

What value is theres bigs at25 and after who were rock solid real world 10+ rebound guys..not guys with wingspan and no clue...guys who DO IT. The top 2 scorers in college ball are still there for rd 2....gee...with NBA "star" being usually the guy able to score 20-30...maybe that's worth a thought.

Experiance, skills, consistancy, proven production...scuse me but by the numbers Ryan Anderson and Kevin Love are quite close...and both played about the same sceduale. So....one might be #5 and one is 35? Love may well be better, but Anderson is the value.
Look up any data on D Arthur and richard Hendrix. You want a POWER F....gee...how about the 255 lb guy who was a rebounding beast and tested as well at the combine as the smaller lotto tagged Arthur?

D Jordan...Robin lopez....neither seems able to make a basket beyond finger roll range so what's their edge on any C in rd 2? In fact....not a whole lot. Look up the numbers for derrick Rose and Sean Singletary, or Singletary and Bayless. If anything,Singletary often emerges on top. Why are the freshmen a top 5 lock and Singletary a rd 2 maybe? Answer is----NO GOOD REASON. There's a gereral assumption that ANY 19 yr old freshman is all he is AND advances at the best possible pace..while a JR or SR is tapped out, won't add a damn thing. westbrook may go top 10 and ain't CLOSE to the overall skills Singletary has. Lester Hudson only played at Tenn-Martin....which is not UCLA or N Car and so doesn't count. All the same a bunch of NBA STARS did not play at a "big" school. Pippen played at some nothing school I never heard of before or since. Warrior legend Nate Thurmond played at Bowling green. Barry came from Miami when they were not even a football school yet. Parrish played at Centennary. Where is that?

So what exactly happens with all the guys you like who get passed on? When do they find their way into the league and prove everyone else wrong? They don't. NBA GM's aren't blowing 39 of 40 late picks on bigs because they are all imbecilles (though a lot of them are) they are gambling on what's likely to pan out, because they other stuff NEVER works. Your guys all end up playing in Austrailia. It's not like they don't get seen, they just don't have it.

But you're right, trading down has value. You trade down, you take advantage of a sucker. I'm all for that, but the pick is a throwaway.
