Monta Ellis to NYK?

Marc Berman of the Post mentions that Donnie Walsh and Chris Mullin maybe close to swinging a deal that would move Ellis into the Knicks’ backcourt. He also notes other options at PG, which we talked about yesterday.

“I think we can use help (at point guard),” Walsh said. “But we probably could go in the way we are but we’ll probably look for help.”

Golden State’s Monta Ellis is a wonderful point-guard-of-the-future candidate but that has to be a sign-and-trade scenario because Warriors general manager Chris Mullin would match a two-year deal. Walsh and Mullin are close, making a transaction doable.

just wondering who you would want, and what you expect mullin to be asking for.

I'll bet you as much as you'd like to wager that monta Ellis is not going to the Knicks.

Maybe it's an Al Harrington deal on the table.

Oh, I get it, you misread your article. If that's cut and past, Berman doesn't say that Mullin and Walsh are "close to a deal." He says that "Walsh and Mullin are close, making a transaction doable." By "close" he means they have a relationship and a transaction history. There's no deal in the works, he's just saying Ellis is on his wish list.

File under irrelevant.

why lock this? i'm not trolling or anything.

i do think nate would be a good fit. david lee can also fit with any team (although there's a glut at pf for you guys). wilson chandler may fit too. jamal can be pretty good too.

berman writes for the new york post. so he certainly has credentials....

I caught the error here and edited my previous post, but I wasn't saying the thread would be locked because of you. It would likely get locked because of the numerous TOS violations about to be committed by GSW posters in your direction. Not really your fault, just the way it's bound to go down.

No, you did.

Berman didn't say the two were close to making a deal. He said they were "close" as in they're friends

Walsh and Mullin are close, making a transaction doable.

Hence the comma after "close"

Typical New York beatwriter spin. Everyone wants to play for them and every team wants to trade their key players there

Um, no.

No, you misread it. TommyDee is the one misquoting Berman. The only quotes from the Berman article are that Monta ellis is on his wish list, and that Mullin and Walsh have a relationship. There's no quote from Berman actually reporting any trade negotiations. That was read in by the Knicksblog poster.

in the introduction it says they are close to making a deal.

in the end it says their relationship is close, making a deal doable.

The introduction is not written by the NY Post reporter. The introduction is written by a messageboard poster. The section of the post that is indeted is the article (or excerpts from.) The first paragraph is not written by Berman. Marc Berman would not write an article that says: "Marc Berman of the NY Post mentions . . ." unless Marc Berman is a (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

You're misreading it.

I'm trying to save you a lot of trouble here.

Ellis is on lots of people's wish lists. Unfortunately, none of them have matching rights except Chris Mullin. There's not deal. There's no rumor of a deal. There's just an overeager knicksblog poster named Tommydee that got a little excited seeing Ellis name in a NY paper and ran with it. Don't go down with his ship.

Actually they're saying "may be close". "May be" is popular when throwing ess against the wall to see if it will stick.

You could say that Lebron may be willing to ask for a trade, and that would have as much validity as this. Please don't run with my example. I doubt Lebrons goin anywhere this year.

Here is the actual article with absosmurfly no mention of Mullin and Walsh being in negotiations or "close to a deal." It's just as I said. There is no report of a pending deal. Marc Berman is writing his wish list and notes that Mullin and Walsh have a relationship.

Reading is fundmental.

Oakland Public Schools - 1 vs. South Bronx - 0

No Mylie,
actually it says: Marc Berman of the Post mentions that Donnie Walsh and Chris Mullin maybe close to swinging a dealthat would move Ellis into the Knicks’ backcourt.

"maybe" is the wrong word making the sentence basically gibberish, and dealthat is not a word in any dictionary I've ever read. If that introduction was written by a NY Post writer, and got past professional editors and was printed in a NY paper, then I weep for ALL of the NY public schools.

As I said. The introduction is not part of the article, and was just written by a poorly educated, excitable knicks blog poster. Hopefully Tommy Dee is not our current guest in disguise.

OPS FTW.

Happens to the best of us. The interwebs can be a confusing place. Facts are, the GSW are counting on Monta Ellis winning games and selling tickets when (soon) Baron Davis moves on. He's not going anywhere unless Wade is comming back.

Besides, the Knicks roster is full of untradeable poop and you know it. :P
