youve gotta love it when you can acquire a hungry player. the rockets are solid as hell.

im a bit upset, i would have sent them Harrington.
Lets Go Baron Davis...i dont care what jersey you put on. Lets go.
Big Smooth is focused and ready to handle the centers of the league.
Curry and Ellis will be a top 5 back court this season. 6/25/2010

On the other hand, the current Kings squad in the west could make a serius run at the #1 draft pick in 2009.

Yeah if that's the deal it wreeks of the same stench that came out of the Gasol trade. Surely the Kings aren't giving him away like that. A 2009 1st rd draft pick from the rockets will be around 25 with Artest there now so whats the point?

The Rockets are lookin real nice and balanced now. Artest is perfect for that '3rd star' type of player on that squad. With T-Mac and Yao beside him, he can use a lot of his energy on defense.

weren't Sac fans arguing that the Warriors would be offering way too little in any package for Artest that was built around our #14 pick?

so they held out for the package built around the #28 pick (Green) and next years pick which will no doubt be another late late pick?

thanks for the sig Boogie!

This deal stinks. Imagine you were a Sac fan. Hostile.

At least this is good news for Francisco Garcia. I'll be looking to him Fantasy time.

Yes, the Rockets got the best player, but the Kings finally got to move on. About friggin' time!

And the Kings may have a high draft choice and will get worse first, but eventually will get better.

The kings are young team now. You think their youngs are as talented as the Warriors' youngs

Screw pick protection... even with as brittle as Yao and McGrady are, the Rox almost seem to play better when one of them is gone.. they have a team of "glue" guys that I love... Rockets absolutely fleeced the Kings for an unmotivated player, an EC, and a 20+ draft pick... Queens are being managed straight into the ground.... they remind me of the W's drought years, w/Richardson (Kevin Martin).

This move just doesn't sit well with me for Houston. I don't like Artest, despite his talents, and it seems that neither do his previous teams. Indiana traded him for 30 games of Peja and then nothing. Sacramento is trading him for essentially two late first round picks and an EC.

The guy is super, super talented and yet his teams don't seem to want to keep him around. That doesn't bode well for Houston, I believe. Will the stoic Yao bristle at Artest's horrible shot selection and childish shenanigans? Will the cool McGrady be strong enough to harness in the hot headed antics of Artest when he flies off the handle?

Again, big questions with potentially devastating answers. I think its a desperate, risky move by the Rockets. I don't think its going to work out for them in the long run.

The hope with Ron is that winning cures everything. That's Houston's gamble.

I can't stand Alston. He's in the wrong league.

Hell no.

Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright, Anthony Randolph, Marcus Williams, Marco Belinelli

vs.

Kevin Martin, Spencer Hawes, Jason Thompson, Francisco Garcia, John Salmons, Beno Udrich

Ellis/Martin are close but the rest of the W's >>> the rest of the Queens.

We aren't giving HUGE longterm deals to untalented players like Dunleavy & Murphy; we also have significantly better young talent than the Warriors "drought" years.

And, what exactly did you think the Kings would get for Artest? Most knowledgeable people pegged his value at a prospect (Greene) and a late 1st. Had the Kings received some stud young player you'd probably be saying "OMFG THEY OVERPAID FOR A HEADCASE/CANCER!!!".

Petrie's 1 of the best talent evaluators in the league. He got a 1st rounder to use and a young guy he liked. What more should they have got?

Houston will be good but still behind Lakers and Hornets. Artest can be the man who is the star when Mc Grady aor Ming go down. Battier,Artest,Mc Grady, Ming, Alston is a solid team.
So GS has one less team to compete for the 8th seed.

One less team? Who, the Kings? I don't think they were a threat anyway. I didn't see Ron having another good year for them this season. I think he was fed up with losing. This is just a hunch, so don't ask me to defend that.

I think they did the right thing to let him go and try to get something back now before he leaves for nothing. Maybe they didn't get anything useful - I don't know. But at least they didn't take back bad contracts, and got a pick, even if it's not a great one.
