It seemed to be a pretty clear cut case, deferred money that was previously obliged. When you buy a team you inherit those contracts. I'm surprised Cohan even went to court, I think he's just so bull-headed he couldn't resist twisting the fork in Nellie before having to give him his money.

The ruling awarded Nelson more than $1.95 million in past due deferred compensation, more than $146,000 in interest on past due payments and more than $4.17 million in present-day value of future deferred compensation payments.

Present-day value of future deferred compensation payments - Ha! Cuban should have just paid this a long time ago... he continues to throw good money after bad.

Cuban did not respond to an e-mail from The Chronicle.
