[MERGED] 2010 Draft Thread

Post#1 » by Coxy » Sun Feb 21, 2010 7:30 am

So, as it stands we are looking at the 3 pick hypothetically. Lets say the Nets get 1, do they take Wall with Harris already on board, or do they like Cousins or Favors next to Lopez? Maybe they like Turner enough for outright 1st, I know I do. The Wolves look a little more clear cut for mine as Turner seems to be the guy they need on the wing, and HAD on the wing in Brandon Roy. The Warriors, well, we could definately use Turner, BUT we could also use Wall or Cousins or even Favors I guess? Our team could look VERY different next season, and the Don could really set us up draft time this season before farting off into the sunset.....

Lets see what everyone would do, or thinks would happen, with the 1, 2 and 3 picks IF the Nets, Wolves and Warriors are going 1,2,3 in each order......
Copy and paste if u want

1. Nets - Wall
2. Wolves - Turner
3. Warriors - Cousins

1. Wolves - Wall (Wall gets dealt to Wolves for Turner and XXX)
2. Nets - Turner
3. Warriors - Cousins

1. Nets - Wall
2. Warriors - Turner
3. Wolves - Cousins

1. Warriors - Wall (Dealt to the Nets for Turner and XXX)
2. Nets - Turner
3. Wolves - Cousins

1. Warriors - Turner
2. Wolves - Wall
3. Nets - Cousins

Basically, I think the Nets like Wall at 1, but will either keep or pick Turner at 2. The Wolves will want Turner no matter what, as will we but won't get him off the Wolves if they pick before us. We MAY be able to pry Turner away from the Nets, depending on what it costs us though. The Wolves may be able to pry Turner away from us at 2 with a huge package though I guess, as Nellie may LOVE Cousins (or another project big like Favors)Anyone think any other players will move up into the top 3 picks by June? Favors, Aminu, Monroe, Aldrich, Johnson, AJ Ogilvy???

EDIT: My pick is Turner no questions asked, wherever we pick. He's a franchise player - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2ajaaDDjT8

1. Nets - Turner if they have assurances that Lebron is signing with them.. otherwise it's Wall
2. Wolves - Turner or Wall (whoever Nets don't take)
3. Warriors - Cousins

1. Wolves - Al-Farouq Aminu (Kahn is crafty... he's going to turn this draft on it's head... this will be the first of 5 SFs he's going to select)
2. Nets - Wall
3. Warriors - Turner! we get Turner!

1. Nets - Wall
2. Warriors - Turner (we get Turner!)
3. Wolves - Cousins

1. Warriors - Wall (Dealt to the Nets for Turner and XXX) +1
2. Nets - Turner
3. Wolves - Cousins

1. Warriors - Turner
2. Wolves - Wall (passes on Aminu after he comes up with a 3 Pg scenario)
3. Nets - Cousins

Funny about the 5 SF's with Kahn :)

He'd probably draft the worst one, too, like he did with Jonny Flynn and this year's PG crop.

The Wolves won't select Aminu!! Your smokin the good stuff I see. They'll be taking Wall or Turner and ending up with Turner both scenerio's.

It's funny, with Kahn selecting Flynn, Rubio and signing Sessions, it'll be a big talk point to see if goes for another PG. Nets have Harris, but would likely deal him after drafting Wall, maybe. Warriors have Curry and Monta, so Wall not the absolute pick if we pick 1 really.

All 3 teams can make a case AGAINST drafting Wall, up until the 3rd pick anyway when it would be a no brainer at 3.

These 3 teams could do plenty of dealing with each other draft day.

I figured I didn't need to use the green font.

There are 6 possibilities fitting your original criterion. You left out
1) Wolves
2) Warriors
3) Nets

I dont see the Warriors doing a deal with GS to trade for Wall if NJ has the number 2 pick.. THis would still force them to move Harris and that point, I think the would keep as many assets as they can and draft Turner and play him at the two next to Harris..

I really feel the draft in particular order unless Warriors are one

is Wall, Turner and Cousins

There is no real incentive for the Nets to trade up, when they have Harris and would be pretty much in the same position we are.. Even if they get number 1, I see them moving Harris to acquire other pieces and not giving up assets along the way

No one has mentioned the distinct possibility the lottery moves the Warriors down to 4, 5 or 6.

If the GSWs were so lucky to get the first pick and the Nets 2 or worse, let's say the GSws say Curry is our point guard of the future but Maggette is not. Devin Harris for Maggette and then find a taker for Harris, Radmanovic or any other player not wanted.

Then the GSWs draft Turner or Cousins or Favors, whoever.

There's 2 scenarios:

1. We get the #1 pick and take Wall
2. We get the #2 to #6 pick and trade it

There's NO scenario where the W's keep the pick and take Turner or Cousins...

Are you telling me the Warriors would actually trade away the right to take Turner? Do you really think they could be that stupid? That's guy's going to be playing good ball in this league 12 years from now.

And why would we take Wall and not trade him? We already have a small two guard who's a much better shooter and a point guard who's a better shooter and can also pass. I don't think even Nelson would throw the whole team upside down in his last year by bringing in a new, 19 year old point guard.

If we get #1 we should take Turner, or cut a deal with New Jersey for Wall so we can get Turner and something.

But, as was pointed out, we could just as well get a crap ping pong ball and wind up in the Al-Aminu sweepstakes instead.

This was just a hypothetical, like I said in the original post, with us picking 1,2,3.

Don't jinx it poo heads by saying, "but we might get the 4,5,6 pick" Find another thread for that.

uh huh......any of the 3 could drop to 4-5-6. That can be some plus for us as some others would grab Wall,or if we had Wall, they pick next, get Turner, they may like to swap.

Note.....Wall had a pretty weak outing vs Vandy in a close win. Now...being a weasel boy, i tell the Nets,Wolves, whoever, that I want to get Wall and dump Monta or Curry. They then take Wall #1 and I get Turner #2. Then I just grin.
