Adam Schatz picks the Ravens to make the playoffs

Bill Simmons in his pod caste interviewed Adam Schatz from footballoutsiders.com and thought that the Ravens were going to go 9-7 and win the division. Scatz is sorta like a John Hollinger of the NFl. He mentioned how he said we were extremely unlucky, and that we lost recovered only 5 out of 25 fumbles, and that our defense would bounce back. Also mentioned that he is down on Cleveland and Pitt.

With our current quarterback situation, our defense wouldn't need to just "bounce back". It would need to be the elite defense of years past. Not 6th, 7th, 8th, etc....we're talking top-3.

Apparently, Boller is out for a while and Smith was hospitalized for dehydration (losing 10+ lbs), which leaves poor Joe Flacco to start the season -- basically what we did with Boller when we drafted him (trial by fire).

Boller's been placed on the IR (see other thread for details). I guess we could always start Todd Bouman (he's still around?) though, for sh*ts and giggles.

But, I mean, I can't blame Schatz for picking the Ravens to make the playoffs. He clearly made that prediction under the assumption that we'd have Kyle Boller in the lineup.

(Now take a step back and look at that last sentence. Yeah. How bad does he really think the Steelers/Bengals/Browns are?)
