http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5699614Matt Moore has been named the starter for the game against the 49ers. I'm surprised to say the least. At this point, we might want to give Rodney Peete a call.

I swear to all that is sacred, John Fox is the most stupid coach in the NFL. I only pray the end of the season is here soon so he can get his pink slip. You decide to commit to the Rookie, then for Pete's sake COMMIT to him. 3 games, and you bench him? Your season is gone, so let him learn. This is only going to set him back a year because Fox is not allowing him to learn under the pressure of a real game. No matter what, this season is lost. Buffalo and Carolina are the 2 worst teams in the sport right now. Let him learn to play with the 1st team now so they will be better able to gel next season - assuming there is a 2011 season. I never pull against my team, but I am so tempted to these next home games merely so the fans can boo Fox for 3 hours non-stop!

Fox has always done this. Sometimes it works (Delhomme replacing Peete) and sometimes it doesn't (this year, David Carr, etc). Not like he cares this year; he's not going to be the coach next year.

Fox is a great coach. His team just has so many holes that it was destined to win four games at most this season. I don't agree with yanking people like this, but there is a case for looking at both guys and seeing what happens.

Rooster, I am just aggravated as all get out right now. Watching this team play, I think Fox has lost the team. Never thought I would say it, but this team just does not play with the heart and desire and ability to which you are accustomed. And it just seems to me that Fox is making decisions that just dont make much sense, as if he himself almost doesn't care. Play calling is bad, execution is bad, and it just makes for a bad team. This team needs a fire cracker to come in and bust some butts because there is far too much talent on this team to play this poorly.

And forever as far as im concerned, Andrew luck is expected to go on the first pick of the nfl draft, and we might have it

The Panthers would be fools to draft a QB this year - they would be better off announcing that Clausen is their starter and giving him a full preseason knowing that.
Heck if it backfires whats the worst that will happen another 2 win season - that way they could draft Luck next time around

Is there a real franchise QB in this draft? If there is not we should take whatever true franchise player is availabe, and try again next year for a qb.

Not opposed to taking Newton #1. But would strongly consider Defense with Dareus this time. Give Clausen this year to prove himself. If we suck again like this past year, then Luck will be the #1 pick next year and we do get the true franchise QB.

I am a big panthers fan - but there is no player in this draft who will turn the franchise around ala Matt Ryan. Therefore the Panthers should play it smart and find the role players on the defensive and offensive lines who they will need to build a succesful franchise in the future, this would mean trading down from the number 1 pick if at all possible.
This probably wont be possible though because all the other GM's realise that Cam Newton isnt worth the gamble -
I say give Clausen the chance under a new head coach to prove why he was once considered in the same sentences as Sam Bradford

I agree with you Pete. But I am really starting to think Newton will be the pick over Dareus, Greene or Peterson. And that will spell the end for JC because there is no way they will play the 2nd rounder over the #1 overall pick for long. Likely start JC the 1st half of the season to give Newton time to learn the playbook, just playing Newton every so often. But unless JC lights up the world, Newton will be playing a lot more the 2nd half of the season. Would really be funny if JC tears it up and then what do the Panthers do with Newton?

haha that would be quite the pickle but I cant see it happening. I do agree with you too that the Panthers will pick Newton which will no doubt be the end for Clausen no matter how well he performs in the preseason, if they pick Newton he will start week 1 which will spell the end for Clausen.
If Newton does start though he will be in for a horror season if Steve Smith walks like he is likely to, atleast Clausen has had some time to work with Lafell and Gettis.

I was really hoping that if the Judge Ordered the NFL to "open for business", which it looks like she did, that we might see Smith get moved to NE for our 2nd round pick #33. But all indications are that only picks will still be traded and not players. Given that JR is such a staunch backer of the League, I dont see him breaking ranks and trying to trade any player or sign any player until the League gives them the go ahead.
