Game One: Arizona

Post#1 » by Jaruff » Sun Sep 11, 2011 11:33 pm

Positives:

Cam Newton showed out today. Broke Peyton's record for most passing yards in a debut.
The rookies on the DL played well.
Oh look, there's Steve Smith. I missed him.
The two TE system is working for us.

Negatives:

Running game sucked.
Offensive line sucked.
Lapses in the secondary.
A close loss.

Looks like we both posted Threads about the same time. I loved Cam's play yesterday. His accuracy and poise were terrific. Leadership is the quality he has that will endear him to his teammates and the Panther fans.

packers fan here.

nice game for the panthers
lots of positives
the mistakes were minimal
and easily fixed or improved on
many expected a poor performance from the panthers
and even some embarrassing plays
neither happened.

i think the 2 TE system is perfect for rookie/young QBs
gives an extra blocker if needed
and at least 1 mismatch
TE > LB or DE

shockey and olsen r 2 very nice and capable TEs

from ur Negatives list
"Lapses in the secondary."
this is the worst thing, especially playing the Packers next week
they will for sure go 4wr and finely

KInda expect the Defense to struggle next week against the Packers. But I am very interested to see how Cam adjusts to a much better defense in Green Bay. Dont expect a duplicate of yesterday. But if he can prove solid, I'll be very happy. My goal would be: 50% completion %, 200 yards, Int's do not exceep TD's. If he can do that in Game #2 against the Packer defense, kid will erase any lingering doubts.

Well I have Steve, Cam, and Olsen on my fantasy team. Not expecting much from Cam (backup) but I'm starting Olsen and Steve. I think both will have great seasons.

Yesterday, it seemed Newton was only comfortable with four guys; Shockey, Olsen, Smith, and LaFell. Naanee reminds me of D.J Hackett; a one and done guy who won't contribute. The OL has to play better so he isn't getting sacked as much; I guess it's a chemistry issue. When was the last time all five of those guys played together? Been quite a few years.

I thought we were going to beat Arizona and we really should have. Too bad DeAngelo Williams did absolutely nothing.

Next week will not be close.
