Very tough game today. Starting out very good though. Cam is 8 of 10 for 96 yards and a TD. Carolina up 10 - 0 in the 1st.

13 - 7 Carolina at the Half. Cam is 13 - 21 for 180 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. The INT hurt as he tried to squeeze one in the Smith against Woodson and we were moving nicely. Gotta learn. But he's playing very well against a great defense.

17 - 13 Packers. Cam threw INT #2 and we gave up only a FG. Then a great pass to Smith and we were in Packer territory and he fumbled the ball away. Ouch!

A tough loss but damn, Cam can throw that ball.

Well, we lost 30 - 23. Cam was 28 for 46 for 432 yards 1 TD and 3 INT. He rushed 10 times for 53 yards and 1 TD. Those 3 INT's hurt, but he is learning what he can and cannot do. A good day for the defense against a great offense. Just had too much against them with the offense turning the ball over.

One thing that hurt was the inability to rush the ball today. Williams had 13 yards and Stewart had 5 yards. This basically meant Cam had to beat the Packers today, and that is nearly an impossible task for a Rookie in his 2nd game. You could see Cam off a litle on his touch on some of the plays where we reached the Red Zone and had to end up with a FG rather than a TD. Just a hair off on a couple passes which would have meant a TD rather than a FG on 2 separate occasions. That may have been the difference in the game. Then, he made a couple bad decisions down there where he lost a few yards on 3 and short when he would have been better off throwing the ball away. But hey, the kid is just a Rookie and he is learning an invaluable lesson.

The runners have to step it up. I guess it's partly the OLine but that's no excuse for two 1,000 yard rushers to play like they have the first two games.

Sure there is some injuries to the O - Line, Otah being the big name missing at RT, but with Hangartner back in the starting line up at RG is the o line really that different from when Stewart and Williams had their 1000 yard seasons.

I will go on the record as saying that despite my earlier comments before he got drafted - no matter what happens from now on, Cam Newton is no Jamarcus Russell

Is it possible that the real piece they are missing is not the O line but FB Brad Hoover

I loved Hoover and what he did for the team. But the O Line has been weak in the Pre Season games and both regular season games. But hopefully a healthy Otah will make a difference Sunday. The Jaguars do have a good run defense, so Cam will have his opportunity to make it 3 games in a row over 400 passing yards. Odds are against him, as it has never been done before. But it will be entertaining.

Pete, you are absolutely correct. Cam is no Russell. But just how good he will be is going to be fun to watch! :-)

Felton should largely replace Hoover once he learns the playbook (remember we just picked him up from Detroit right before the season started). Tony was a decent FB too but I guess the injuries convinced the FO to cut him.
