Game # 14 Jets at Panthers

Post#1 » by ohara » Sun Dec 15, 2013 9:24 pm

Jets and Geno Smith are 6-7 and come to Charlotte to play the 9-4 Panthers. Panthers need to pressure this young QB and rattle his cage. Panthers should get back on the winning track today. But they better play tough because any let down and the Jets can pull the upset.

If there is anything to get upset with in Carolina, it is getting into the red zone and having to kick FG's rather than score TD's. It had a big impact in the Saints loss, and again today. First and goal and Panthers wind up kicking a FG. That wont win playoff games. Panthers lead 3-0 halfway thru the 1st

Jets tie the game at 3-3. Panthers back in the red zone. 3rd and 3 at the 6 yard line. Need to get a TD and NOT another FG! Cam up the middle for 1st and goal at the 3, Now 3rd and goal at the 3. Had to throw it away. Yet ANOTHER FG attempt. Sickening! 6-3 Panthers.

Jets not wasting time and now have a 1st and goal. Now 3rd and goal at the 10. Can we force a FG? Yes. Defense steps up and holds. Game tied 6-6.

Rams lead Saints 14-0 and kicked on onside and recovered. That upset would be HUGE for Carolina, but they need to keep it up and keep scoring. Brees has 2 INT's in the 1st qtr. Rams kick a FG and lead 17-0 now.

Cam with a 72 yard TD screen to DeAngelo!!! Panthers lead 13-6 with 3:30 in 2nd. Great down field blocking by LaFell to make it happen! Cam is 9/12 for 191 yards and a TD. Terrific half by Cam.

FG by Panthers make it 16-6. But news is that Cam has hurt his right foot. Jogged off to the locker room, so no idea how serious.

Saints trail 24-3 now. Panthers force a 3 and out. Terrific return by Ginn, but a hold will force Panthers to start at their own 20. Cam 12/15 for 224 yards and TD in the first half. Foot OK as he is back out to start 3rd qtr.

Panthers in the red zone and on 4th and 2 go for it and miss. Should have taken the easy points and gone up by 13. Not sure I like the call. Put up points as the Jets have a tough time scoring.

And Jets make the Panthers pay. Wonderful drive and Sheldon Richardson comes in and has two carriers to score the TD. Now Panthers lead is down to 16-13. That was a bad risk by Ron Rivera and it could come back to haunt the Panthers. Cam needs to get a drive going and score another TD. No more FG's.

Panthers look to have something started, but back to back holding calls make it 1st and 30 at at their own 30. Momentum shifting to Jets and crowd is not happy. Panthers force 3 and out and block the punt. STarting at Jets 14. Now 1st and goal at the 3. NO FG this time! Cam calls TO. Panthers push it thru and are now up 23-13 with under 10 minutes to play.

Munnerlyn with a pick 6 and now lead 30-13. Might be the nail in the coffin.

Jets get a TD and with 3:50 it is 30-20. Panthers recover on side kick and start in Jet's territory. With Rams hammering the Saints, teams will be tied going into showdown game next week in Charlotte.

30-20 victory. Saints trailing 27-9 in the 4th. Great day for the Panthers if the Rams can hold on.

Saints score a TD to make it 27-16, then get the onside kick and are in the red zone with 2:00 to play. Come on Rams!!! Saints tried a FG to cut to a 1 possession game and it was blocked! Thank you Rams!!!

Great win. Do or die next week vs the Saints. A bye in the first round would be awesome, and being the 2 seed would be incredible as well.
