The Carolina Panthers saw one of their star players, and another promising one, go down Wednesday morning.
Kelvin Benjamin was carted from practice after suffering what appeared to be a left knee injury, according to reporters at the joint practice with the Miami Dolphins. Coach Ron Rivera said Benjamin suffered a sprained knee and will undergo an MRI exam in Charlotte.

The second-year wide receiver will need season-ending surgery for a torn left ACL, the team confirmed. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported the news.
