Panthers Acquire Harris From Chicago
2nd August, 2007 - 5:45 pm
AP - The Panthers got help at safety Thursday when they acquired Chris Harris from the Bears for a fifth-round draft pick.

Harris, entering his third season, started at both safety positions with the Bears and had five interceptions in the past two seasons. Harris also had an interception in the Bears' loss to Indianapolis in the Super Bowl.

Thoughts? Me likey.

Im just glad we got a viable safety on the roster... finally! After Minter retires ( maybe sooner than later ) do you think we'll finally draft a first round one?

I wanted LaRon Landry but we all saw how that turned out...

Hopefully Minter plays another couple seasons 'cause Harris and Minter will be crazy together. This defence we have, especially if Dan Morgan stays healthy, will be ridiculous.

Maybe a safety next year? I know dick-all about NCAA football so I don't know who the top prospects are right now but there's usually one in the first round who's worth a look. It'd be nice to give Minter an understudy.

What I like most about this is that Harris is a combo FS/SS so we don't have to be so restricted when we do look for a young 'un. He can just play whatever's natural to him and Harris can pick up the other spot.

Chris Harris is a big hitter but the bears had three safeties better than him on their roster along with the two they just drafted. He's a little slow in coverage but for a fifth round draft pick a good pickup.

Wish we still had him. Brown is gone, Archuleta has been sucking, Manning has been inconsistent.
