Carolina at Atlanta

Post#1 » by ohara » Sun Nov 23, 2008 7:39 pm

Big game today. Need to help separate ourselves from the rest of the division. I think 2 things stand out today.

1. Can we stop the Falcon running attack?
2. Can we sack the rookie QB?

If the answer to both is yes, we win. If the answer to both is no, we lose. if it's a mix, it is a very close game.

Edit: And a 3rd is Jake has to play better than the last 2 games!

Let's see. A minute into the 2nd qtr, and we are down 17 - 0. We have amassed 0 total yards, and the Falcons have almost 200 yards. Yep, if this doesn't get straight real soon, this game will be over by Halftime. Better get your act together men.

45 - 28, a real butt whipping. Blame this all on the Defense. Although the special teams did give up a punt return TD. But after falling behind 17 - 0 with 0 yards, the offense got going. We got it to 17 - 13 with big Mo on our side. Then the Defense just let Matt Ryan throw key completions all over the place, getting them into the red zone, and then the big backs ran it in. We'd come back and score, then the Defense would fail us again. Extremely disappointing game.

Now, we are tied with Tampa for 1st, and they have beaten us head to head in Tampa, so they are technically in 1st. Atlanta is only a game behind. and of our 5 remaining games, 3 on the road and 2 at home. And we are playing some tough teams. We are 8 - 3, and I can see 10 - 6 as being our best bet, with 11 - 5 possible. It will be a real fight from here on out!

Matt Ryan will be a Panther killer for the next dozen years. That guy is going to be great. He already plays with such poise it is not imaginable how he is only a Rookie. We better land a quality QB in the Draft soon to follow up Jake.

I couldn't actually see the game, but I was horrified when it was 17-0, comforted at 24-21, and then horrified again. Now we've lost the division lead too. I still think we can take it, mind you, but we'll have to get revenge on Tampa.
