Orton looked a lot better than Rex Grossman in the team's preseason loss to the Seahawks on Saturday night in overtime.
"I never really got comfortable," Grossman said. "We just weren't playing real smart to start the game."
Grossman was 9-for-15 with 74 yards and an interception in the loss.
"Not really pleased with what many of our offensive guys did early," coach Lovie Smith said. "We didn't get a lot done. Rex was a part of that."
Orton, however, looked solid after going 5-for-9 and leading the Bears downfield for a key field goal.
I guess this explains why Orton played sparingly and Grossman was given an (undeserved) extended chance.
What Chitown says in the other thread is right, they force fed him playing time and it blew up in their face.
If this staff picks Rex over Kyle, Chicago is going to riot.
Just by watching practice after the first game, anyone would be quick to realize Orton is the leading candadite. The plays being called while Orton is under center are far more interesting and less Vanilla than what Rex is usually summoned up to call. I think Forte's quick recognition and Kyle's efficient and quick short passing game is perfect for our inept offensive line.
