What un-exciting news. The defense better stay injury free and play like they did on the way to the Superbowl or it''ll be a 6-10 season.

Unfortunately I think this would be the case no matter who we started at QB.

A city yawns. I've got to read up on what Lovie's basis was here. I mean, this is as many of us predicted (per the earlier poll) but did anyone see Orton flat-out beat out Rex in the 2 preseason games thus far? Must have liked what he saw in camp, I guess.

We can win with Orton - 2005 showed that when we won 10 in a row with him at the helm. Truth be told, though, we won *despite* the fact Orton was our QB not *because* he was our QB. It puts a ton of pressure on the special teams and defense (again) so let's see if they're up to it (again). I just can't believe we're in this situation yet again.

WHEN WILL THE BEARS QB CURSE END ?
Turn down for what?

Orton never really threw the game away except for once (5 picks against the Bengals) in his rookie year. In our four losses in 2006, Grossman threw 3, 3, 3, and 2 picks and put up ratings of 36.8, 23.7, 0.0, and 68.3 (the best one being the superbowl). Those games don't include a couple of wins, where he threw 4 picks with a rating of 10.2 vs Arizona, and when he threw 3 picks with a 1.3 rating vs the Vikings.

In 05 Orton threw 5 picks once, 2 picks another time, and never threw more then one pick aside from that. He didn't do very much at all, but he rarely threw games away.

Meh. I've got very high expectations for our defense/special teams, but our offense might be worse then it was last year and in 05.

I think Orton has looked better the entire camp .he has just looked like a player who you can point on this is how we beat team A and then he can go out and execute that game plan. Rex on the other hand has a penchant for big plays but he cant execute a game plan and this year the wideouts and running backs need efficiency and dedication to the offense as we have several players at key positions we are developing like Hester and Forte .

With a suspect line the biggest advantage Orton has over Rex is his size and ability to play from the Shotgun. Now that we have Forte I think you will see Orton in the shotgun and we have the burner on the outside, the pass catching TE's , great slot receiver and pass catching HB to actually make some plays .

Rex's confidence is shot and teams know this .They knew exactly what would happen if they could get to him early and the Bears played right into their hands .Thats the bottomline when it comes to Rex hes damaged goods right now mentally he will never be the same in Chicago.Every hit, every fumbled snap ,every int, every miscue they are all in his head and staying there.Hes gonna have to go see a QB whisperer.

Ah. The outcome of the most unexciting QB battle ever. Hooray?

I hope we tank. Seriously this will be one of the most pathetic offenses of the last 20 years. There is not a starting quarterback in this league that I wouldn't take over Grizzly Orton. Then we have a rookie running back... Both these players are playing behind a very weak line, and we have a prize rookie with back problems. I can not F@#$$% believe this. Can't we send a third or fourth round pick to the Cards for Warner? That's how desperate I am.

Well, when we win 4 games this season I hope Angelo gets canned and we bring in someone who can draft offense. I'm not saying Angelo has done a bad job, because I think he has set our defense up to be a power for years to come, but he has taken us as far as he can. Its time to get a proven offensive talent evaluator in here and tell him to not touch the defense.

Pretty good group of QB's in the college level right now. I'd take Tebow.

If forte wolfe jones can produce from the garbage ass o-line, I can see Orton being the Hero and Grossman being extremely hated. But if its Garbage from the beginning and we have a ton of 3 n Outs, then I see Ortons head being called for

Return to Chicago Bears
