Orton's continued progression is KEY for us going forward.

If we don't have to spend an early pick on a QB in the draft next year we can concentrate on other areas of weakness - namely, offensive linemen and more offensive linemen.
Turn down for what?

Nice feel good game, but Cliff Levingston doesn't put much stock into it at all. This game had a lot more to do with just how horrendous the Lions are rather than how good the Bears are. Granted the Bears could/should be 5-0, Cliff Levingston has never seen a team quite as bad as the Lions. Our line couldn't get a good pass rush going against any teams we played against this year until we play Detroit. Our receivers can't get wide open until we play Detroit. Cliff Levingston was amazed at how bad Detroit is, and if they keep this up, they may set the 0-16 record.

So, not to be a downer but as far as Cliff Levingston is concerned, we've still got the same problems as before until we prove we can fix them against an NFL team. Cliff Levingston will say that it was good to see us not play down to our opponent's level and the play calling was aggressive throughout which is a big step forward for Turner.

I just delievered to his punk arse too, give me nice $20 tip haha

But he has thrown long strikes .That first one to Olsen was over 30 yards and got turned into a a 50 yarder.

Hes averaging 220 passing yards per game thats more than Rex in the SB year .

Hes on pace to throw just as many td passes also but fewer ints

His QB rating is a balmy(for bears QBs) 87

Hes gotten his yards per pass up over 7

If you check Ortons and the bears offensive numbers against the rest of the league they are doing great

If you compare Orton and the bears offense to 06 they are on pace to surpass those which is astonishing considering how low everyone had them rated

The bears have maybe stumbled onto a franchise QB who they can further develop. It will be interesting to see where Orton is graded when the season ends .

I like the optimism from you, and I hope that these "on pace" situations soon become reality.
it has only been 5 games into the season, the average yards should be higher than Rex's 16 game season in 06.
Rex's on pace in 06 was 32tds and 14int with 4,200 yards, but we all know what reality was. I don't want to crush your hopes by being a dbag/i don't have bad intentions, I am just letting you know that there is always 3 sides to a situation, the negatives/reality/positives.
OT, this season is really up for grabs. You cannot place a bet on a for sure team anymore, i.e Colts, Chargers, Patriots, Cowboys. No team is really showing a dominance presence yet. And with our supposedly easy schedule, KO should manage to keep doing this thing and the Defense is solid as ever.

I didnt get to watch the game, but was surprised by the score. I knew we would win, but not that big. Just looking at our stats the run game looked awful...Benson like. what happened?

The run game wasn't nearly as bad as the numbers would have you believe.

The stats lie.

You see Forte's TD total for the game?

He was effective, and the entire Lions defense looked ginger everytime he was in the game. His presence was more than felt. I'm sure the WR's are appreciative of what he's done to open up opportunities in the air.

I took a roadtrip with friends to see this game live. It was sooo awesome, but cliff is spot on..the bears looked alright, but it was more the lions just being putrid. I remember crowd cheering twice and one of the times was when they benched Kitna.

This was my first football game and sooo much fun. After the game got out of hand, lions fans left and bears fans came down and got nice and rowdy. I swear at a certain point there was more chicago fans than detroit. It was a good feeling since I hated going to bulls pistons games the past few years and seeing so many pistons fans.

It's frustrating that we should be 5-0 or at least 4-1..but i feel like the bears are starting to get a bit more consistent, and as long as the packers keep dropping games, I think this division can be ours.

It certainly can be ours which is incredibly surprising to Cliff Levingston considering his outlook for the Bears and the division as a whole. However, don't count out Minnesota yet. If they get a win tonight against the Saints, they're only a game away from us with 2 left against Detroit. As a team that can run the ball and stop the run, it's hard to see them not being able to win some games soon.

Green Bay does seem to be slipping badly though which is nice. They can't run the ball this year cause their line is pulling an '07 Bears type move and really disappointing while they're getting bit pretty hard by the injury bug.

Here's what Scouts Inc. at ESPN.com had to say about Forte's performance against the Lions:

"The numbers might not reflect it, but the offense actually went through RB Matt Forte, who is doing everything well despite being a rookie. He runs with power. He moves very well laterally to make tacklers miss. He is patient and sets up his blocks. He is crisp with his routes and catches the ball cleanly. He is an impressive blocker who understands his assignment. The Bears got him the ball early in a variety of ways -- short, high-percentage throws, inside runs, outside runs -- and that was big because while he might not have busted any long runs, it made the Lions respect the run game. They were forced to crowd the line of scrimmage to help a shaky defensive line, which left the secondary exposed and allowed the Bears to make plays in the passing game."

The main reason Matt Forte's yard per carry is low is because of our terrible offensive line. He should be around 4.5. Also Turner's offensive game plan gets very predictable at times.

The Bears went to Forte on the first five plays of the game and got two first downs if memory serves me correctly.

The Lions then crowded the line and Orton shredded them through the air and made them pay for it.
