I put some stock into it, because he missed wide open receivers plenty before. I don't think he's a great QB who can throw for 250 a week on average now with multiple TDs and few interceptions, but I think he's now shown he can handle the basics of his position which was more than he was doing earlier in the season where he was missing wide open guys.

He missed Booker every time he threw it to him, and that seems to be a theme all season. For some reason, Booker seems to be only guy that Orton misses when throwing it to. Maybe he has a better re pore (sp?) with the other guys.

I think the problem is Booker has trouble getting separation from the corners - which is probably why he couldn't lock down a starting spot. In order to complete a pass to Booker, the passes have to be of the pin-point variety or Booker has to make an amazing catch (like Sunday).

Meh. There were a couple times where Booker had at least a step on the DB and the pass was way overthrown. Seems like maybe Orton would rather overthrow those instead of under throw just in case as not to make the turnover. Then again every QB will miss his receivers sometimes, so it's not like Cliff Levingston is making a big deal of it. Orton has showed steady improvement throughout the season as he gets more comfortable.

Prior to this week, he was underthrowing everything, so who knows.

yes i am a Chicago Bears fan. I am not upset with Kyle Ortons performance, I just don't want to see another "he is on a hot streak performance, and then has a bad game with 4int" and the whole world goes ballistic saying he sucks. Then the media kicks in and starts targeting KO. Okay so basically, I don't want what happened to Rex to happen to KO. The city needs to lay off the QB a tiny bit so that they have room to breathe. Its as if we assume that if you were to plant a tree and watch it for several week, it will grow into the biggest mofo on earth.

KO has improved his game. It took him 4 weeks to finally put 2 good halves, and Detroit was a good team to give him that lift up. I am not completely sold on him yet.

I still have faith in Grossman, he has shown success and failure. The kid is tough. Would I want him playing for us now, yes. Do i think he will succeed as much as KO, yes. Does this system fit RG better than KO, no. Turner won't give RG the offense for his gunslinging mentality, so he probably won't look so great at times.
but with KO, he will run this offense, week in/out, with majority of the time being average/above average. He will have his awesome game and horrible game. Nonetheless,

It was nice to see a good performance from KO, but I don't put any stock in what happens against the cowardly Lions. They made our receivers look competent. I think that says it all. Lions are the worst team in the NFL, and it looks like the Martz offense was a competetive band-aid for that awful franchise. That said, at least KO was on target this game.

Usually they meet after practice without their coaches.

Whether the Bears wide receivers and quarterback Kyle Orton use that time to get to know their opponents better or each other doesn't matter to receivers coach Darryl Drake. What matters to Drake is Orton values time with his receivers enough to set up early-morning meetings if that's the only time they can get together.

The mix has worked this season because Orton hasn't been afraid to stir it up occasionally with strong words for his receivers, leadership built off the rapport established during those meetings excluding Drake.

"Kyle's not afraid to grab a guy and say, 'If you're not here, I'm not coming to you,' " Drake said. "He's not afraid to talk to those guys in those terms. He commands respect and they respect him."

Well, Orton certainly wasn't the problem on Sunday. I've never been a believer, but he had a nice game with no picks and a few TDs. He's definitely earned the job and the chance to improve.

He's been growing before our very eyes. In the past 4 games he's thrown for the 3 best games yardage wise ever, set career highs in completions 3 times, set a career high in QB rating, set a career high in TD passes, and had a very clutch 4th quarter TD as time was running down.

Listen, he's no Peyton Manning but who would've thought they'd compare this favorably at this point in the season ? Statistic-wise, that's a draw if I've ever seen one.

Yes, yes, oh god, yes.

It really looks like we have a QB.

Posted this on the postgame thread...

Orton's stats for today: 21/32 283 yards 2 TD 0 INT. (could have had 5 TDs. Seriously) 114.5 QB rating.

On the year: 1669 yards 10 TD 4 INT 143-230 62.2% 7.3 yards/attempt 91.4 QB rating.

On pace for: 3814 yards 23 TD 9 INT. That's a near-pro bowl caliber year.
