Devin Hester has heard the criticism; he has read about the Bears' urgent need to acquire a No. 1 wide receiver.
And while his 2008 numbers—51 catches for 665 yards and three touchdowns—might not inspire the utmost confidence, Hester's determination to become a prolific receiver may portend well.
"From what I heard, I am the guy," said Hester, who joins his teammates this week in Lake Forest for the veterans' mini-camp. "If you take a look at the season, it started out a little shaky. But if you take a look at the last four or five games [20 catches, 290 yards, one TD] … I feel like I have been very consistent with the way I have been playing.
"I made plays throughout the last four or five games. I felt more relaxed, more comfortable and more confident in what I know as far as the play calling and stuff."

Re: Hester sees big things ahead for team's offense
I expect a nice year from Hester after having a full year at WR under his belt. That being said, he's got to know having a big, sure-handed target to team up with him is only going to help his cause.
Turn down for what?
