Yeah at that price, I don't want him.

Somewhere Jared Allen weeps.

Can you believe guys on both sports radio stations are acting like the Bears got robbed? It makes you wonder if they even watch. At that price, goo bye.

That's a whole lotta ass Cleveland just picked up.

We can do better.

Let's see what vet Angelo brings in now. I'm guessing Shaffer for cheap which means we either go OT/WR in the draft or WR/OT.

To me that means Britton/Robiskie or DHB/Loadholt (or Nicks/Loadholt)

Of course if Sanchez slips, I'll say Sanchez/Robiskie and OT will wait until Day 2 but I digress.

Speak of the devil. From Briggs' S-T blog :

Hiestand will head to Oklahoma to work out the Sooners' Phil Loadholt next week and that's only one leg of the journey. The Bears also have a private workout scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 in Tucson, Ariz., with another offensive tackle--Arizona's Eben Britton.

It's not a terrible over payment for St. Clair but Cliff Levingston would've preferred we passed on him at that price anyway, so no skin off our backs.

Could be a swap of tackles in the works. Of course the interest needs to be mutual. From the Trib blog :

Tackle Kevin Shaffer has an interest in Chicago Bears
By Vaughn McClure

Could the Bears and Browns end up swapping right tackles in the end?

John St. Clair bolted for Cleveland earlier this week, signing a three-year, $9.1 million contract. His path to the Browns was cleared after they released starter Kevin Shaffer, who was due a $1 million bonus on March 13.

Now Shaffer, a free agent, has an interest in the Bears.

``I would definitely like to,'' Shaffer said in an e-mail when asked if he'd like to play for the Bears. ``It's a great team and a great city.''

Shaffer, 29, is a seven-year veteran who spent three seasons with the Browns. He was due to make $2.65 million for the 2009 season. The fact that the Browns cut him is a cause for concern, but the Browns had discussed bringing him back at a reduced salary before signing St. Clair.

A positive about Shaffer is his durability. He missed just one game in three seasons after suffering a concussion last year. He started 31 games at right tackle and 16 games at left tackle for the Browns.

Cliff Levingston wouldn't mind Shaffer as a backup, but hopefully we wouldn't have to depend on him to play 16 games for us.
