BTW, my favorite part of this game is where Olsen clearly didn't have control coming down with a pivotal catch - obvious to anyone that knows the rule that it was incomplete - and Lovie proceeds to wait until the last second to call a timeout THEN challenges the play only to lose the challenge and a second timeout.
If that play isn't the death knell of a coach already on the hot seat then Lovie Smith clearly has pictures of Virginia McCaskey with her skirt over her head from last year's Christmas party.

Wow. How much more must Bears fans suffer before ownership shows some signs (any signs) of giving one, two or three **** about this team. Any other franchise and this guy would have been out on the street last year.

The way that was managed by Lovie was absurd. After the failed challenge, I think it was 3rd and 19 and a pass to Forte got about 13-14 yards. So at that point we're on about our own 40, facing 4th and 5 with about 4 minutes left.
Hey Lovie due to your 2 timeout blunder, you have left yourself with no choice but to go for it!! Instead the Bears punt, get a best case scenario 3 and out, and get the ball back with 2 minutes, no timeouts and 80 or 90 yards to go. You haven't stopped the run all day, they were lucky to get the 3 and out. 1 First down and the game is over.
It was a triple whammy, the timeout, the failed challenge, then punting. Their best chance to score was when they had 4th and short near midfield.
I swear to God those are the kinds of game management things that get coaches canned, even if they are owed big money.

We played well enough to win the game, yet had so many penalties and bonehead plays that we lost. Those kinds of things should get coaches fired.
This season started out well. We played Green Bay to the wire in Lambeau in week 1 and then beat Pittsburgh in week 2. From there, it basically spiraled out of control and we've devolved into a team that looks like it has no idea what it's doing. The coaching really can't be any worse right now and Cliff Levingston wouldn't be all that surprised to see Lovie fired if only as a last ditch attempt for Angelo to try to save his job. Not only has the coaching been bad, but we've seen Angelo's free agent acquisitions of Omiyale and Pace suck it up while his last 1st round pick has sucked it up too. On top of that, Iglesias, Gilbert and Moore don't ever see the field.
Something must be done. There's no doubt we'll lose to Baltimore next week then Minnesota the week after. The critical game is against Detroit in Week 17. If we lose that one, then the axe could come down on the entire coaching staff and maybe even Angelo. Cliff Levingston doesn't like to root for losses but this offseason will be the time to be in the market for a new coach with Gruden, Shanahan and Cowher all possibly out there.

Re: PG: Bears swept by Packers, Lovie sucks!
I think Lovie has always thrived on luck. He makes decisions like that and, normally, our defense finds a way to stop them (like they did) and then the offense finds a way to score. But lately (this season and last) he's not getting the breaks. His whole defensive philosophy of pushing takeaways is luck as well. Yes, there is skill to it, like when you watch Tillman, but the flipside is that other teams need only emphasize protecting the ball and escaping when you go for the strip and they run all over you. Add to that he is teaching our players to almost avoid contact and make arm tackles/swipes instead of emphasizing physicality and tackling. Blaming the team on not getting enough takeaways is a convenient way to mask your lack of coaching ability. Oh, they didn't do what we planned, so I didn't need to have a backup plan or adjust in any way. Good riddance Lovie.

My greatest fear is that this crappy season will result in the draft pick that gives the Broncos a franchise QB, and I'm betting our second rounder we gave up for Gaines FRICKIN Adams will give TB a productive player. Meahwhile, we suck for another 3 years, watching Cutler waste away, while we
TRY to rebuild an old, washed-up defense and O-line. Good times ahead...

Gaines Adams sure doesn't look to be worth a 2nd rounder at this point. I hope he proves me wrong because we will certainly need him to play like one next year if Wale is gone.

Pace is now running with the 2nd team so it looks like Williams will be the LT going forward with Shaffer at RT. Could Pace be cut or retire after this season?
