LT, even with what he has left, is a better fit in Martz' offense than Bell or Forte. The Bears have cap space.
I know that there are other positions that we need to upgrade through FA, but I sure wouldn't mind LT at the right price.
Even if we draft a smaller, quicker back, he'll still take time learning blocking schemes and all that. In addition to learning the protections more quickly than a rookie, I think LT could be similar to Faulk in Martz offense even if he doesn't have quite the same burst as he used to.

What makes you think he has anything left in the tank? Kid had over 400 touches for 7 straight seasons. I think SD used up whatever full time RB he had left in him.
I wouldn't mind LT as a backup - but at this point Forte is a better running back.

Magilla, granted he's worn. That's why I'd expect to sign him relatively inexpensively.
I don't however, think that he is washed up by any means. I think he'd be above-average to pretty good splitting carries down the middle with Forte or even getting the slight majority of
You know Martz isn't going to overwork him, plus I think he is tailored for this offense.
Did you watch him this year in SD? I thought he looked pretty quick most of the season.

Why is LT better than the system than Forte? Forte is a great pass blocker and catcher, two things that I feel are very important to excel in the pass happy system. Now I wouldn't mind LT has a backup(that's if he wouldn't mind the role himself) otherwise the price might be too steep especially when we don't know how many touches he can be guaranteed.
Honestly I didn't even think he was close to Sproles in terms of production and at times I thought Tolbert was better than him.

I think he will be demanding too much.
I'd rather go after Chester Taylor...

Charity Stripe, I yield to your infinite wisdom.
Chester Taylor would be a better choice.

Every defense keyed in on stopping Rivers and the big receivers when they played San Diego, but his yards per carry was consistently in the 3.0's and 2.0's. He rarely looked explosive to me still.
I think Forte is a great back for Martz's system because of how he can catch the ball.
Chicago would be better off spending that LT money elsewhere, IMO.

Re: Thinking we should pick up LT
Forte is the best fit for Martz's system as he has the ability to be a top 10 rusher as well as top 5 receiving back. The Bears' main question is going to be their O-Line. Tice is a great offensive line coach. The question is, do they have the talent to work with. BTW, I looked at Martz's playbook(it's available online) and holy cow. I didn't realize how much goes into his playbook(or maybe all other coaches do that same as well).
