Random Bears Thoughts

Post#1 » by blumeany » Tue Oct 19, 2010 3:46 pm

1. It drives me crazy when Bears coaches and players say 'we had a great week of practice, I don't know what happened' after a loss. Really? REALLY? You play pattycake all week against a defense that isn
't really all that great and you wonder why things aren't translating to the real game when a live defense is hell bent on ripping your QB's head off?

2. How in the world will Jerry Angelo escape a firing this season, and why in the world should the Bears wait until the end of the season to fire the guy in charge of drafting and personnel? Wouldn't it be a much better move to get someone in there with time to allow them to develop and execute a sound plan? Does Jerry Angelo's 8% success rate in the draft really make them wonder if they CAN'T do better? Do his blind FA signings really impress Bears ownership that much?

3. Will the straw finally break the camel's back when Donovan McNabb goes down with an injury in the first quarter on Sunday and REX GROSSMAN leads the Redskins to a win over the Bears?
2024: Maybe there's some hope?

I hear that because of the Hilton Hotel strike, the Bears were thrown out of their normal "Home Game" routine Sunday morning. They were not served breakfast that morning & the night before, I hear that the noise from the striking workers was terrible.

What was the point of getting grant if he was never given a chance? Is Barry Turner going to do any better?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Angelo should be fired even if the Bears make the playoffs. Last offseason, faced with a team with a hopeless amount of holes and a make-or-break year, he spent millions and hamstrung the Bears' future to save his own job.

If the Bears aren't Super Bowl contenders this year (and they aren't), Angelo should be handed his walking papers. His last several drafts have been awful, he hasn't paid enough attention to the o-line, and 2 of his 3 major free agent pickups from last offseason are at worst busts, and at best overpaid. Can anyone tell me we couldn't have gotten Chester Taylor's production from a much cheaper, younger back? How many "big" sets have we run to utilize Manumaleuna's strengths?

Unfortunately, Lovie and Angelo are probably handcuffed to each other, so we'll probably see both or neither next season.
