Alex Brown cut by the Saints.
Wotton is injured. Gholston busted. Melton could slide over. But we don't have much there.
Sign Brown, please.

Re: Alex Brown Cut
I think we're looking for a 3rd down pass rush specialist here and I don't think Alex fits the bill at this point in his career.
I know the Trib writers all have a hard-on for AB but I'm fine with waiting for Favre-killer Wooton and seeing what we have there.

Re: Alex Brown Cut
I'm personally worried about Wootton's injuries, current and past. True he isn't a pass rush specialist, but if Wotton is injured is Mario Addison really our 3rd DE? Melton could slide over, but that bumps up everyone on the DT depth chart too.

Re: Alex Brown Cut
I thought the Wooton injury wasn't considered serious ?
Melton shouldn't move over if he bulked up to 290+ in the offseason.
Agreed that we shouldn't be relying on practice squad fodder like Addison and Reed, though. How bad must Ghoulston have been for us to already waive him considering we have question marks at DE, though?
I imagine we're just waiting for Wooton or we'll be doing some dumpster diving after final cuts. Just as we'll be doing for a reserve vet LB.

I haven't heard much about Wotton's injury which worries me. If he's ready week one, I guess I'm fine not pursuing Brown.

Re: Alex Brown Cut
Cliff Levingston would prefer to only move Melton over for the purposes of making the defense think rather than out of necessity. If Alex will have us, Cliff Levingston doesn't see any reason not to bring him back. With Wootton's injury concerns, having a DE who you're familiar with and you know what he'll give you would be quite valuable, ICLO.
