Roy Williams Wants To Come Back

Post#1 » by BIGGIEsmalls 23 » Thu Dec 29, 2011 2:52 pm

- Chicago Bears receiver Roy Williams expects detractors to focus on the negative, but the veteran also thinks he's made enough plays in 2011 to warrant another year with the team.

Asked about his possible future with the club, Williams said, "Who knows."

"I feel like I made plays when the opportunity came," he added. "Of course, everybody's going to bring up the negatives, which is fine. But for the most part I made enough plays and I'll be happy to [re-]sign [with the Bears]. But if not, I'll continue on elsewhere."

MY RESPONSE TO HIM

His inability to consistently catch passes didn't start with the Bears this season.

I've seen enough of Roy Williams. Bad signing from the get-go.

Oh. No. Thanks, though.

I wouldn't bring him back for the veteran minimum. That said, the fact that he was still starting over Jonny Knox means he was doing something the coaches liked. Maybe blocking in the run game, or making a good set of pancakes for Martz's breakfast.

Hopefully he's gone. We went the cheap route for WR this year. Next year I think we spend big money in FA.

The Bears will need it. Angelo doesn't supply that.

The thing is the Dolphins signed Marshall to a 5yr/$50m contract in 2010 that made him the highest paid receiver at the time. That being the case, I'm sure he's a happy camper and it's doubtful he'd try to force his way out which is often how deals are born in the NFL.

I have a feeling we'll be looking to get a cheaper version that can become the next Brandon Marshall. Y'know, cause we're so good at developing wide receivers and everything.

Other then the fact he can't catch or gain any separation off the line I'd love to have him back.
