Re: Mike Tice the new OC
I personally think its a good move. You saw the offense take strides this year and you keep the hire in house so there is already an establish level of comfort. He's obviously going to focus on the ground game, improving the line, and protecting Cutler. All things I think are extremely important. And when he was the head coach of the Vikings was extremely successful on offense.
2002- 2nd in Total Offense, 1st in Total Rushing yards.
2003- 1st in Total Offense, 4th in Total Rushing and Total Passing
2004- 4th in Total Offense, 2nd in Total Passing
2005- 25th but they lost Culpepper early and trade Moss before the year, it was just a big mess.
Granted he wasn't the offensive coordinator but as a former QB, and TE you know he obviously had a large hand in the offense.
Overall I like the hire. Keep it in house, a guy who's got a proven track record, and who I think is going to emphasis the right aspects.
Now if they knock the GM signing out of the park (which I hope they do) I'll be very very happy with the staff changes.
To go along with staff changes, let Cutler pick the new QB coach. Get the guy he wants and that he feels comfortable with, and that won't **** up getting the plays into him on time.

I'm down with it. Interesting that Angelo blocked Tice from interviewing for same position with the Titans last year, apparently.
Turn down for what?

I'm ok with Tice as O/C, considering what he has done with the Oline he has earned the opportunity.

Re: Mike Tice the new OC
Advantages over Martz:
- more protection for Cutler
- Cutler can actually audible (what a concept!!)
- better run/pass ratio
- simplified playbook (Martz would come into a game with 300 plays)
Also, Tice knows our one of our biggest weaknesses (OL) more than anyone so I HAVE to imagine that left tackle spot (at a minimum) will be addressed. I still think we should look into Jared Gaither as we discussed earlier this year - he shouldn't break the bank.
Tice is preaching run first offense peppered in with big play passes which Cutler's arm is more than well-equipped for.
Everything I'm reading about Tice tells me the o-line, big play WR, and signing Forte back are going to be a priority. Throw in a TE that can cause mismatches (ala Finley, A Gonzalez, Graham) and I'm a happy camper.

Here you go:
Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Dowell Loggains is emerging as a candidate for a similar position with the Chicago Bears, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Loggains is being touted by Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, and Bears coach Lovie Smith has been making calls inquiring about the 31-year-old coach, according to the source.
While Tennessee might not let Loggains leave for a lateral move while he's under contract, Loggains would be interested in the move because he has a strong, personal relationship with Cutler. Cutler wanted Loggains for the position two years ago, after Pep Hamilton was fired, but former offensive coordinator Mike Martz brought in Shane Day. Martz and Day parted ways with the Bears on Tuesday.
Cutler never had a strong relationship with Day, and was often seen yelling at him on the sidelines.

Re: Mike Tice the new OC
^^ Thank you sir. If Cutler wants him, then I want him. Simple as that. For the o-line we've put in front of him and making him work with Martz we should give him whatever QB coach he wants.

Re: Mike Tice the new OC
He did wonders with the O-line so hopefully he can do wonders with the entire offense.

The Titans shut us down, Higher.
Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Dowell Loggains emerged as an early candidate to hold the same post with the Chicago Bears but just as quickly disappeared from contention.
The Titans denied the Bears permission to interview Loggains for the position Tuesday, according to sources. The latest development shouldn't be seen as a surprise or setback for the Bears because one source maintains the club still "(has) a good, solid list," which doesn't include former Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson, who was fired on Tuesday.
When news originally surfaced about Chicago's potential interest in Loggains, who is a friend of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, a source with the Titans expressed doubt that the coach would switch teams.
"(Titans head coach Mike)Munchak loves him," the source said. "I don't see him letting him out of his contract unless (it's) a play calling coordinator's job. No chance they will get Loggains as just the QB coach."
