There ya go. :o

BOOM goes the dynamite!!! Thanks.

The only thing saving Lovie is that they don't want to swallow the dollars left on his contract.

At this point, it just seems to make all the sense in the world to just clean house entirely. Who is going to want to come here for what could be a 1 and done? It looks like we'll have to replace the o-coord (probably Tice), the QB coach, and ST coach.

Yeah, logically the Bears are in a pickle. When Martz was hired, it was a similar situation where the talent pool was weak because Lovie was a lame duck. Now he is a lamer duck and you are potentially exposing Jay Cutler to having 4 offensive coordinators (Turner, Martz, Next Guy, and Guy who would come in with a new HC) in his relatively short stint with the Bears. It's a recipe for disaster. The only way I would consider Lovie staying as a good thing was if it was revealed that Martz was Angelo's idea. However, everything I've heard has been to the contrary.

Tice, Colts offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen is a possibility, but he is under contract. Former Chiefs coach Todd Haley and former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Greg Olson are available and worked for the Bears previously, but that was under Angelo.

After moving on from Mike Martz on Tuesday, the Bears must move swiftly to secure another offensive coordinator and are expected to take a serious look at Colts offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.

Christensen could be let go once a new general manager takes over in Indianapolis. Colts owner Jim Irsay fired Bill and Chris Polian on Monday but continues to evaluate the coaching staff.

Only thing that scares me about him is my opinion that Peyton Manning was actually his own OC in Indianapolis.

Exactly. I'm hoping they don't look toward the guys in Indy, because without Manning, they actually built a pretty crappy team. He's been there so long, its impossible to tell if his greatness just covered up for everyone. We complain about JA not building a team that could withstand injuries. What the hell did they build in Indy? manning goes down and they looked like they might go fricken winless.

Well i'm guessing Tice is going to get a shot at the OC job now.

Tice to OC is an interesting thought although he's never called plays before. I like him on the o-line but I'm guessing he doesn't want to stay there.

Coach Lovie Smith said that quarterback Jay Cutler didn’t influence Mike Martz’s future with the team.

Smith told the Sun-Times that he talked to Martz on Tuesday, informed his staff and then talked to Cutler, who was at Halas Hall that day. A report Thursday said that Cutler went to the team’s headquarters and let Smith know he was in favor of Martz not returning, before the coaches had a chance to meet.

“That didn’t happen,” Smith said. “I didn’t talk to Jay until after I talked to Mike.”

Smith said that Cutler reiterated his support of the coach’s decision.

Martz told the Sun-Times on Wednesday that he had nothing against Smith or Cutler.

“There’s nothing to analyze,” Martz said. “This is a personal thing for me.”

Martz on Smith: “It was a thrill to join Lovie’s staff.”

On Cutler, Martz said, “Jay is so talented. He got comfortable [in the offense]. But that’s on Jay, not myself.

Something about the article above sounds like a contradiction.

HINT: I bolded & underlined the three parts that stuck out to me.

Hell, if I were Jay I'd tell the front office I wouldn't want Martz back, too. That system really exposes the QB to some hits. It's more than our crap OL, too. Warner took his share of hits in St. Louis as well.

Agreed. I'm just kinda nervous about him having to learn YET ANOTHER system. Chances are that we won't see true results until the 2nd year into that system.

Donovan McNabb said Friday he was expecting a call from the Chicago Bears after Jay Cutler went down with a fractured thumb Nov. 20, but that call never came and the Bears lost five of their last six to miss the playoffs.

The Bears did put in a claim on Kyle Orton after he was released by the Denver Broncos, but the Kansas City Chiefs claimed Orton before he was available to the Bears.

Meanwhile, McNabb, a Chicago native who was released by the Minnesota Vikings on Dec. 1, watched Caleb Hanie lose four straight games for the Bears, who then turned to Josh McCown in losing their fifth straight. The Bears closed out the season with a win over the Vikes.

"I thought the Bears would call," McNabb said on "The Waddle & Silvy Show" on ESPN 1000. "So many people continuously talked about the Mike Martz offense and things of that nature. I personally didn't care about that. If you want to win and win now, you go out and get a better quarterback and you cater your offense to his strengths, and obviously the strengths of your team.

"Obviously it didn't work out well for them. It's unfortunate. I wish things would have worked out, but it didn't. We will see what happens from now on."

Maybe it's just me, but Donovan sounds a little bitter & arrogant in these quotes.

I got love for my Chicago-born guy, but his shots at the Bears (well-deserved or not) seem out of line.

McNabb is done. He acts & sounds like the typical star athlete that just can't realize its over. He's focused on the Bears not claiming him. But what he should be realizing is that no team claimed him. No playoff team or team in the hunt thought he was worth a spot on the bench as a #3 insurance check. He's done and won't be in the league next season.

^^^^^^^^It was such a sudden fall for McNabb. It's like he went from top-tier QB to scrub overnight.

BTW, I saw you sneak off of your Bears board to post on the Bulls board...lol.

Lol. I'd like to go back to posting regularly on the Bulls board but there's sooo much complaining about our team - which is the best in the league and one of the best this 35 year fan has seen. I actually see people complaining that our rookie gets no time. Best record in the league not enough.

Come on over & post, Emperor.

It's getting better. Myself & others have tried to combat the negativity. It seems to be working, but we could use more soldiers like yourself to help us out :D . I'm never gonna stray too far from my beloved Bears board, though.
