Interception by Bears (although a BS roughing the passer penalty wiped out one a couple plays before).

Bears look to be walking away with a victory tonight!!!! Go Bears!!!!!

Aw, c'mon Biggie - can't be happy with tonight.

Had to DVR this one so I'll ramble off some random observations...

- Soooo many drops tonight. TD drops by Bennett and Jeffery (he had another one as well). Always good to see stone hands Rashied Davis come in and show why he should never see the ball on offense as he had two go right off his hands.

- Roach looked out of place at MLB. Missed tackles and got caught up in the muck too much. Largely responsible for Wilson getting as many yards as he did. That being said, I'm targeting Wilson for my fantasy team as you know Bradshaw's going down this year.

- Tillman. WTF? Just.....awful. Worst I've ever, ever seen him.

- What happened to all this passing to the TE we were going to do? Seems like we're doing even less this year if that's even possible. Or are we just keeping that all under wraps until the regular season?

- I'm speechless at this point at the LT situation. I haven't heard Lovie's post-game comments yet but I'm sure he's going to do his usual sugar coating but this is a bad, bad thing. I know we talked all offseason how we were going to use 3 step drops and RB chips to help Cutler this year but - c'mon - this ain't working. And it's hurting the running game to boot. The answer lies outside the current roster. Figure it out, Emery. 44 year Big Cat Williams out of retirement can do better than this. Think outside the box.

- Guys that impressed? BMarshall, of course. Armando Allen sure can catch the ball out of the backfield. I'm just fine with him as a change of pace guy. Geno Hayes was all over. And I know he only plays late in the games, but does anyone ever notice #76 @ DE (Ozougwu) ? Dude is a BEAST !!! I want that guy to make the team in some capacity - whether it be the practice squad or whatever. He consistently can time the snap count, is quick as hell, strong, has nice moves. Love what I've seen from him in limited action. All I know is he's a converted OLB and 2011 Mr. Irrelevant. Do not let this guy get away and he might have to make the 53-man to prevent him from exposure to other teams.

Tillman has never relied on his speed but there were instances in camp when some undrafted rookie WR's motored right by him

I liked how the defense looked in the second half. Snuffing out runs and what not.
That roughing the passer call was crap.

Not to be too harsh but McCown has been crappy and maybe that young qb we got should be the number 3 qb. During the telecast i heard he had a crazy good record in college. Plus had that drive vs the Redskins which won the game.

Obviously a key to the offense will be how well we can protect in the run and the pass. I heard the first team protection wasnt good. Gotta get that straightened out by any means necessary. Maybe if it means putting Carimi at Lt. Idk. But seriously. We dont draft or sign any offensive lineman? Then make it work then.

The Bad
Tillman had a terrible game. Seemed very sluggish.
Cutler had a bad game. Not very accurate.
Jeffery and Bennett both had uncharacteristic drops.
All four players contending for starting jobs on the left side of the O-line (Williams, Webb, Rachal, Spencer) played pretty poorly.

The Good
Our front 7 is ridiculously deep. JT Thomas and Costanzo have really impressed me at LB.
Marshall is a monster.
Booker and Allen both played well. I think we might put Booker on the active roster because he also gives us an extra return-man. And we can put Allen on the practice squad for another year.
Forte took advantage of the two holes he saw in the second half, albeit against the second team defense.
Garza, Louis, Carimi seem solid.

General Thoughts
We need Conte and Wright to stay healthy all year IMO. Steltz is a good player, but he has little range. Conte gives us the flexibility to do single-high safety.
We need to get a LT.
Hopefully we can get guys like Allen, Blanchard and Ozugwu onto our practice squad. I like their potential.

Good call. Why have two 30+yr old vets @ backup? McCown is having trouble even keeping his feet on those rollouts. He looked 43, not 33. Give Blanchard the #3 spot.

I had a busy evening with the family, so I actually began watching around 9:30pm when Jason Campbell was in at QB.

I missed most of the game, but your (and other posters) observations that you just laid out gives me a better understanding of how the 1st unit struggled :( .

The most important thing to me is that I haven't read about any injuries :D .

Yea man. Getting out of preseason without major injuries is the most important thing for the Bears or any team.

I am just as concerned about the O-Line as you guys are. I just feel that it will eventually come together once they settle on the 5 guys. I believe that any O-Line needs to have 5 guys consistently taking reps TOGETHER, in order to gel & become a good unit.

O-line was pathetic. Tice needs to convince Emery that he needs to sign some new linemen so they can cut these scrubs. Some people I would sign Jake Scott, Vernon Carey, Andre Gurode, Jeff Otah, and I might even give Max Starks

I dunno, man - I see your point on consistency but Webb took all the LT snaps last year and look where we are now. A weak link is a weak link in my book. If I'm Emery, I'm looking far and wide for a better solution.

I hear you, Chewie.

I'm just afraid of what may end up on the waiver wire. TBH, the line didn't look too bad for a stretch before Cutler was injured.

Signed a 4yr deal in March with the Chargers but we apparently dodged a bullet there as he's out indefinitely will back issues and has seen 3 different doctors trying to figure out the issue per Roto.

Ahh ok. McNeill probably isn't gonna be ready this year. We will just have to wait for cuts I guess. I think old veterans who lose their spots to young guns are our best hope right now. But I just can't think of any old LTs that are better than what we have and that might be supplanted by young guys right. We will see this week.

Chewie was answering your brother. Your brother mentioned Gaither.
