CB Sherrick McManis

Special teams player only for the most part.

I must have misheard quarterback instead of cornerback  . Here's the info nonetheless:
The Bears traded fullback Tyler Clutts to the Houston Texans for cornerback Sherrick McManis, a two-year veteran out of Northwestern, ESPNChicago.com comfirmed.

The Houston Chronicle originally reported the news.

ESPNChicago.com reported earlier that Clutts had been released.

Instead of bumping the old Okoye thread, here you go:
Defensive tackle Amobi Okoye, released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday morning, is finalizing a deal to sign with the Chicago Bears, a source confirmed.

The Bears have been looking for depth at defensive tackle and found some in defensive tackle Brian Price, who they acquired from Tampa Bay earlier this summer via trade.

Okoye had signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Buccaneers.

Perhaps Price is headed to IR or Collins isn't being kept around?

Well thanks for remembering I singled out Ozougwu, Biggie. You just can't help but notice how he jumps out at you in the games, even if it is against scrubs. What a first step! So glad the coaches didn't let the fact he wasn't a high draft pick affect his status on the team and let ability be the deciding factor.

And how about getting Okoye back? Holy crap!! Injury played a factor to be sure but we got him super cheap. Just hope that knee checks out....word is he was really limited in camp with the Bucs still after the offseason surgery.

I think Okoye will replace Collins if he can pass the physical. And if a quality tackle can be found somehow, then I think we will cut either Quigley or Podlesh to make room for him. Also, one of those safeties will be cut at some point in the season. That will make room for Knox if he's healthy enough to come off the PUP.

Ozougwu is nice. I thought we would keep a fifth DE since Idonije will also be playing DT.

Bears confirm 8-man practice squad. Full list:

RB Armando Allen, Notre Dame
WR Joe Anderson, Texas Southern
QB Matt Blanchard, Wisconsin-Whitewater
T Cory Brandon, Oklahoma
T James Brown, Troy
CB Isaiah Frey, Nevada
RB Harvey Unga, BYU
DE Aston Whiteside, Abilene Christian

And if you know the Bears, you know the practice squad has a revolving door all year long....

Sweet. I see that they were able to retain most of their favorites.

I'm surprised Armando Allen wasn't picked up off waivers, he has decent enough skills to run as a third down back for a RB needy team.

Still don't get the love for Unga, he is slow, plodding and devoid of any skill really. Brown and Frey are no-brainers and will probably see some field time this season. Joe Anderson is intriguing but doesn't seem to be anything more then a slot type receiver.
