Alshon Jeffery/Brandon Marshall

Does anybody else see obvious parallels between Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall? Big receivers, who are capable of making the big play, not necessarily because of breakaway speed, but more because they have good hands, and then have an uncommon ability for receivers to be able to break tackles. Not to mention they have similar cocky attitudes.

Obviously this is based on no statistical evidence in the NFL, but I feel like we may have (potentially) acquired TWO very good, big play receivers. Earl Bennett will thrive in the slot with these two on the outside as well.

I agree. I actually think Emery did the trade for marshall for the present, then drafted his eventual replacement in Jeffrey

I hope Jeffrey and Marshall are our 1 and 2 WR with Bennett as the 3rd and Hester as our 4th receiver. Seems very solid and tough to defend. Bennett may lead our team in receptions this year.

I think this could be a deadly combination.
Also with Hester and Bennet, Bears finally have a competent receiving core.

Just got to get it blocked.

I hope you are right. It's not somthing we are used to here. I'm optimistic, but I'm trying not to set myself up....

It's all on the OL side.

If they play average we will be fifty-fifty. If they make a little step-up we are going to be awesome.

The OL will need to step up to be average...If they can do that, then we'll be able to see something great..if not, its gonna be a long year for Cutler but I still feel he'll do some good things

I couldn't be more pleased with how this went. Marshall looks e.l.i.t.e. In terms of physicality, he's either #1 or #2 in the league (Megatron), he's got wonderful hands, and the thing that stands out to me is how smooth he is. He's a flawless route-runner, and you can tell he and Cutler are on the same page at all times. Beautiful. Jeffery used his size like I hoped he would. Made a couple nice catches and turned for some YACs, and we could also see him doing some blocking downfield as well. Then, to top it off, he uses his speed and burns a guy for a long TD. These two lived up to my expectations 102%.

Overall, the entire offense looked wonderful. Forte seems quicker than past seasons; he's making quick moves in tight spaces and making guys miss. Bennett served the mosquito/Welker role perfectly, and Hester even got in on the action doing his thing finding open space deep downfield, as well as looking good in the return game. I haven't been this excited about Bears football since the moment Hester returned the opening kickoff for a TD in the Super Bowl. Now we just need the O-Line to hold up all year.

P.S. - Tim Jennings isn't hiding from anyone this year.

Jeffery reminds Cliff Levingston more of Larry Fitzgerald. Marshall is a beast on the line of scrimmage, ruining jams and killing it in all kinds of short and intermediate routes and YAC.

Jeffery is a guy who doesn't have great speed but has ridiculous hands, leaping ability and the ability to track and adjust to the ball in the air: that's Larry Fitzgerald all the way. Obviously he's a poor man's version at the moment but he could definitely close the gap quickly. Even if he's reminiscent of Fitzgerald, Cliff Levingston would take that all day long.

I agree. If we were comparing WRs from this draft to elite receivers in the league I'd say Blackmon is Boldin, Floyd is Marshall and Hill is Andre/Calvin Johnson.
