Urlacher was fine, IMO. He wasn't even noticeable, which is a good thing because that means he wasn't a problem.

The middle didn't get open until the 2nd half when Urlacher was out of the game.

I couldn't be more pleased with how this went. Marshall looks e.l.i.t.e. In terms of physicality, he's either #1 or #2 in the league (Megatron), he's got wonderful hands, and the thing that stands out to me is how smooth he is. He's a flawless route-runner, and you can tell he and Cutler are on the same page at all times. Beautiful. Jeffery used his size like I hoped he would. Made a couple nice catches and turned for some YACs, and we could also see him doing some blocking downfield as well. Then, to top it off, he uses his speed and burns a guy for a long TD. These two lived up to my expectations 102%.

Overall, the entire offense looked wonderful. Forte seems quicker than past seasons; he's making quick moves in tight spaces and making guys miss. Bennett served the mosquito/Welker role perfectly, and Hester even got in on the action doing his thing finding open space deep downfield, as well as looking good in the return game. I haven't been this excited about Bears football since the moment Hester returned the opening kickoff for a TD in the Super Bowl. Now we just need the O-Line to hold up all year.

P.S. - Tim Jennings isn't hiding from anyone this year.

Happy Overreaction Monday?

I don't think he looked that bad. First action he's seen really since January.

I'd like to see more creative play-calling on first down with the lead instead of running off tackle left/right and then passing on 3rd down. That kind of thing will come back and haunt the Bears against better teams at some point if it becomes a habit. Don't go into a shell so much Bears...always hated that.

BTW, the 49ers look scary. That is an intimidating defense. Alex Smith has his act together, not a fluke.

Hester isn't advertised as one of the best receivers, as far as I know. He will be a great gadget player as the season develops.

If you're up 20 why keep pushing the ball?

The Packers defense is garbage and made that passing offense look better than it really is IMO

Good idea. I don't know how to embed, but maybe one of the guys here can accomplish that.

he only had like 2 tackles. Thats why he was un-noticable relative to his normal output. Normally, the system is designed for him to make the play. That running play when he was pancaked in the hole was not the Urlacher I know. That 2nd Q Donald Brown TD run right through Urlachers spot after he was easily blocked aside was not the Urlacher I know. I'd say they are probably scheming to allow for his diminished capability right now.

Brandon Marshall said he runs the best routes in the NFL..Also said with a straight face Hester might have more catches than him this year. Cutler also chimed in with some of the BS. As did Drake. I was responding to the **** we were hearing in the offseason.

I didn't say push the ball with wide open offense. I meant they shouldn't sit on the lead and go into a shell. Its something the old Bears might be trying. I'd like to see them keep trying to make first downs myself. They don't have to run risky plays. Just don't shell up. And I don't want to see soft defense with a late lead either.

We'll have to disagree about the 49ers. I think they are good on both sides of the ball and should beat Detroit and start out 2-0 against good teams.

^^^
Brandon Marshall is his teammate. He will say anything he can to pump him up. Every star player does this. Once the coaches or organization starts saying it, then I'll say it's ridiculous.

I can see what you're saying about the offense.

I'm not saying I don't think the 49ers are bad on offense. I think at worst they are average offensively. I meant that the game showed us nothing about their offense because there was no defensive opposition (relatively and figuratively speaking). They have a good line, good back and good receivers with a quarterback who can make the passes that are supposed to be made. I don't think they're a juggernaut offensively, even though the number against GB may suggest they are.
