The excuses ESPN continues to make for Tony Romo are completely ridiculous. Just imagine if Cutler would have had Romo's stat-line from last night. They would have destroyed Cutler on ESPN. Instead of focusing on the many laughing/happy moments that Cutler showed during the game, they made sure to point out the sideline situation with Tice instead.

ESPN hates Chicago teams for some reason.

Maybe Chicago isn't flashy enough.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm not a fan of this dang pass and tackle, turnover dependent Tampa 2. The elite team won't make so many mistakes and sooner or later the Bears will run into a smart QB who who will be patient enough to avoid TOs in the postseason to cut and slice. I don't see it ultimately as a great defense to use in the playoffs.

It's the same defense that single handedly carried us to the super bowl in '06, except now, we have a much better offense, skill position wise anyway.

In today's NFL, it's all about the pass rush, and we can do that. On top of that, our linebackers are great at playing the run. Really, there's not a lot more than you can ask for out of this defense right now. I don't think there's a single defense in the NFL right now that you can say is playing better ball than the Bears.

Lovie's defenses have always given up big chunks of yardage in certain situations, like when the Bears have a good lead. I don't like it either but that's really only because I'm a numbers guy and I don't like to see the opponent gain so many yards even though I know the defense was dominant.

Pretty much this. It's frustrating in a sense to see them give up that many yards. But I'd take our defense over 8-9 of the 10 defenses that rank in front of us yardage wise this season.

IMO, he doesn't have to push at all. I think Bates was brought in here to be the next offensive Cordinator. Tice wants to be a head coach and if the Bears have any success at all in the playoffs this year I think he'll get an offer and leave. If not this year, definitely next. And Bates will be the next OC moving forward. That's why i think Emery bringing in Bates during the summer was huge for long term consistency.

I think Jay Cutler was feeling you. He actually was calling Tice a Stupid MFer while in the huddle. I'm not sure if Jay ever walked away from Martz on a sideline either. Then again Martz probably was smart enough to leave Jay alone when Jay has black smoke pumping out of his ears.

Actually Tice did a really nice job after the first quarter. The playcalling looked much better than it did the first few weeks. You can tell they made adjustments and they worked.

that is basically the bears' game plan. give up the short stuff and prevent them from getting a big play. and there is turnovers. since lovie took over in 2004, the bears rank #1 in takeaways with 280. the next closest team is the panthers at 249. these multiple play drives allow the bears to force those int/fumbles/etc. the personnel is in place and our execution has been awesome.

That aside, The whole team looked good, the O-Line shockingly so, but the D gave up too many yards imo. And the Cowboys could have put up more points but too many key drops by receivers. BTW, in general, for some reason, Bears safeties are usually too late for my taste over the top when teams do try to go over the top (aside from the interception). Other than that kind of bitching by me...good job Bears.

fun fact: Julio Jones has 4 (only 4?) more catches than Alshon this year, but the same yardage per catch 13.7

RE: Peppers - Plantar fasciitis is a bad injury for any athlete and it will affect their ability. I thought he played well against Indy and GB but the last two games he's been more quiet. Problem is, plantar fasciitis doesn't go away unless you get rest... a lot of rest. Unfortunately, It's going to be a lingering problem this season.

IIRC, this is the same injury that hampered the play of Joakim Noah & Taj Gibson a couple years ago. Not good news at all.
