2006 or 85 because I think we can say this team better than 06 team

IMHO the 2006 defense was better than our current defense, especially when Mike Brown was healthy. Better front 4(Ogunleye, Harris, Tank, and Brown) and a prime Urlacher.

No way. Tillman is better today than he was back then. Jennings is better than Vasher. Briggs is better. Urlacher isn't. Melton and Harris are a wash. Peppers is better than any of those other guys. They're 4 deep at DT and DE. Wright and Conte are playing excellently and I'm pretty sure Steltz is better than the raw Manning. DJ Moore is a better playmaker than Ricky Manning Jr.

In 11 games with the Conte/Wright starting safety tandem, #Bears defense has 21 interceptions and allowed just 8 passing touchdowns.

In the last 10 games that Cutler has played in, the Bears have outscored the opposition by 156 points. That's kinda good.

Great effort all around. The Jaguars are bad but anytime you can hold an offense under 200 yards total that is some good defense.

Bears fans, isn't it great to watch a number one receiver take over a game? Brandon Marshall is a huge difference maker.

Love seeing the Packers lose and it doesn't get any easier for them as they play Houston this weekend.

The Bears defense has scored 5 TD's and allowed 4.

Thats unbelievable.

Forget the scoring five TDs part. They've allowed 4 TD's in 5 games. Holy schnikies.

I'd say '06 Defense with Mike Brown > '12 Defense > '06 Defense without Mike Brown.

For my money, the 05 defense was the best that I've seen in my life (considering I was all but 1 year old for the 85 season). They absolutely carried that team to 11 wins. 1st ranked in points against, 2nd ranked for yardage. Even better than the 06 squad (12.6 ppg v 15.9, and gave up about 200 less yards overall on the year).

That would be the 49ers. Bears are 2nd.

This defense is better than the 06 defense. I liked Vasher, but I think Jennings is a lot better tackler, and coverage corner. Vasher took way to many gambles, and made plays that scratched your head. He had a ton of potential and he had a monster year one time, but he wasn't a smart player. Jennings I think is. Mike Brown was good, but he was never healthy, which hurt the team because they always had to use backups for safeties, and Chris Harris, LOL, Conte, and Major Wright, outclass him any day. Urlacher was better in 06, but I think Briggs is better now than he was back then. Which is saying something because he was good back then as well. Peppers > Ogunleye. The one advantage the 06 team had was DT. With Tank Johnson and a Tommie Harris who was actually a top DT in the league, before he fell off a cliff and became absolutely horrible. I think Tillman is better now than he was back then. I also think Nick Roach is slightly better than Hillenmeyer.

I was really shocked to see so many predicting between 7 and 9 wins for the Bears this year before the season. This was going to be (essentially) a supercharged version of the team that went 7-3 to start 2011. Start printing the playoff tickets.

Completely agree. Talking heads had us 3rd in the North between 7-9 wins (Greenberg on AM 1000 had 11-5 but his partner had 8-8/9-7). However, some of the more refined sports minds had us at 12-4: viewtopic.php?f=156&t=1204284 :D

That is truly an insane start to the season defensively.

It was true when he said it, before the 49ers beat the Bills 45-3.

See how we do against the Texans, 9ers, and Packers and we'll see if this team's for real.

I want so badly to believe.

^^^ Well, we already lost once to the Packers. But like I've said here before, I have extremely high hopes for this season.

^^^^And seeing how the Packers are playing makes me even more angry with the game plan we had against them.
