The Bears put in their veteran highly paid backup and he looks completely lost. I realize that the Bears have personnel issues, but this is a huge black mark for the coaching staff.

I heard about this. But i think i overheard it being said he demoted?
How long will he be gone?
Chicago Bears starting left guard Chilo Rachal has left the team for personal reasons and has been placed on the reserve/left squad list, the team announced.
A source familiar with the situation told ESPNChicago.com's Michael C. Wright that Rachal became upset after he was told he was being replaced in the starting lineup by Chris Spencer for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.
According to league rules, Rachal has five days to return to the team or he won't be able to return this season.

The Bears elevated rookie guard/tackle James Brown from the practice squad to fill Rachal's roster spot. Brown was a rookie free agent out of Troy who played well at times in the preseason but failed to make the initial 53-man roster.
The Chicago Bears informed second-year right tackle Gabe Carimi on Wednesday that he won't be in the starting lineup Sunday when the club faces the Minnesota Vikings, according to multiple sources.
The move came on a day of sweeping changes at Halas Hall for an offensive line that gave up six sacks Monday night in a 32-7 loss at San Francisco. The Bears demoted left guard Chilo Rachal, who subsequently left the team on Wednesday in favor of veteran Chris Spencer.
Spencer started the first two games of the season before giving way to Rachal.
Carimi's replacement at this point is unknown, but the most likely candidate for the job is veteran Jonathan Scott, a sixth-year veteran who has started in 28 games for the Detroit Lions (2006-07), Buffalo Bills (2009) and Pittsburgh Steelers (2010-11).
Mike Tice will remain the playcaller of the Chicago Bears.
With the offensive line struggling of late, it has been suggested that Tice focus on improving that unit.
"There's no consideration at all on that," Lovie Smith said. "I don't know where you [the media] got that from. I doubt if Mike really said that but if he did, I can stop that right now. That's not part of it at all.
" Mike works with the offensive line quite a bit with [offensive line coach] Tim Holt. We need to do a better job with it, like we all need to do a better job. Beyond that it's just business as we've been doing."

Only thing we can hope for is that sitting out has motivated him to play harder? IDK...it's improbable that this current line will get better this year. Hopefully they just do well enough to not let Cutler or Forte get hurt.
