At least Bear fans show more patience and trust than the UCLA Bruin fans in their coaching search last year.
TLDR: Current Pulse Readings (9/2/22)
Bulls:
UCLA Basketball: :dontknow:
UCLA Football: Chip Kelly magic time
Cubs: Uh, 2016
Blackhawks: Uh, 2015
Bears: Poor Justin Fields
FC Barcelona: Economic levers :dontknow:

Per Jeff Dickerson - Bears ST job is of interest to Cowboys ST coach (and interviewee) Joe DeCamilis.

Wonder if the Cowboys would let him move for a lateral position.

I like everything I'm hearing about Trestman, but either way I think we've got some good options to get excited about.

Thats kinda tough news but it depends why he wont be returning.

The Devin Hester thing is weird. He can be great but sometimes he is just bad.

Its understandable that there isnt always open holes,
but the way he lets the ball hit the ground and roll is maddening.

I dont understand why if Trestman is such a freaking brain that NFL teams werent crawling over broken glass to get to him previous, even now except for Emery. NFL media types like him. But GMs? Itz a knawing question that I am sure will be rationalized over the coming months not to my satisfaction.

Ah well at least I probably won't have to suffer through another coordinator promotion experiment.

Well the Colts did interview him last year too.

I think another concern is how short all his NFL stays were. This CFL job is the most established spot he's had. Just a series of bad circumstnces or does he burn out?

I completely agree. I have concerns about Trestman just because he has been skipped over so many times.

I really like Arians "leader of men" type of attitude. Wherever he goes, his players are always extremely loyal and greatly respect him. I think he could really pull this team together with his leadership.

I also like Bevell, just because of his success with Wilson. I like how he designed his offense to allow Wilson to improvise with his feet and make plays, and I think that can work with Cutler. Of course, Cutler is not as athletic as Wilson, but when he did run with the ball this year. I felt the offense worked a lot better when the defense had to respect Cutler's running ability. I do question other parts of his game though.

Trestman was with Seifert, then Seifert got fired.

He was with Bill Callahan, then Callahan got fired.

He was with Dave McGinnis, then McGinnis got fired.

Assistants live a vagabond lifestyle. Longevity of stay is not the norm - it's the reason Trestman went to the CFL.

Arians has 30 years of coaching experience and only got HC experience when his boss got cancer, but that doesn't concern you?

Thibadeau was an assistant for over 25 years before he even sniffed a top job. Sometime perceptions become so ingrained that good candidates are skipped over.

This.

I don't care what previous organizations think or have done. As far as I'm concerned, only about 5 or organizations are truly operated at a consistent top-level fashion. We see inept and under-qualified coaches consistently get hired so the idea that Trestman has yet to get a job doesn't surprise me nor give me cause for concern. In the end of the day, I trust Emery.
