Make your prediction
Put it all out on the line. Make your prediction on who the Bears pick tomorrow night. This isn't what you would do, but rather predicting Emery 's draft. Let's see if anyone can get it right.
I'm going with Ogeltree.

Re: Make your prediction
This is really tough. Last year we all knew it was gonna be a DE. I thought it was bound to be Nick Perry since before the combine and I know the majority of the board also thought it would be Perry. Nobody saw McClelling coming, but again, almost all of us knew it would be DE.
This year, there's no telling what position it will be. It could be CB, LB, TE, DT, OG. Then the fact that we know Emery wants to trade down just opens this up even more. Plus the fact that there's so much uncertainty about the whole first round in general this year.
With that said I think Emery ends up trading down. The top three players that will be targeted after the trade will be (in this order)
Desmond Trufant
Xavier Rhodes
Terron Armstead
I think the highest of those three that is available will be picked.

Re: Make your prediction
I'm gonna be a little bolder with this and say the Bears trade down to either 30 or 31 with the Falcons or 49ers and end up with Desmond Trufant.
That may be enough of a move down that we can get their late second round pick if we do a pick swap or something in the later rounds.

Wow I would love to trade down and end up with Trufant.

I think we trade down and take Arthur Brown or Kevin Minter, likely with the Atlanta 1, SF 1, or Jax 2.
If we don't trade down and Cooper or Warmack are available we take them, if not Trufont, if he's not available I think we go with a DT, but no idea which one.

If he falls, Tyler Eifert. I think Trestman wants to give Cutler more weapons. However I think Eifert will be gone, in that case, welcome to Chicago Manti Te'o.
I believe the Bears would like to trade down but I don't think they will be able to.

Re: Make your prediction
Expecting he'll be the best player still on the board... my hope is it will be Xavier Rhodes.
My prediciton however is Manti Teo or Sylvester Williams. I would prefer Williams of those two.
As far as what I'd be OK with regarding the 20th pick, I will draw the DJ Fluker line. If you are DJ Fluker calibre or better, I deem you worthy of a top 20 pick and would A-OK with your selection at that point. If you are not quite DJ Fluker calibre... you do not merit being picked by the Bears with the 20th pick. I think Fluker will be a bit better of a RT than Teo would be as a MLB, therefore, he misses that cut. Sylvester Williams may be awfully close to the line, but maybe clears that hurdle. Xavier Rhodes clears it.

Tyler Eifert, if we do not trade down.
Trestman would like to maximize the offense to its best ability and has been running a 2 TE set for several years with good success. Trestman wants to time immediately make a splash on offense Eifert can be another cog to push the offense into the upper crust of the NFL. Also the Bears would not want Green Bay to swipe him up afew picks later.

A plea for post scoring is a plausible Bulls plan, but plainly isn't a priority. In response to a post player's dismay about his lack of points in the paint, Paxson said.... "I'm not nearly as concerned about the offensive stuff as he is."

I would love Eifert too we need weapons for Jay.

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
Watching @StaceyDales say she believes via source #Bears will take Manti Te'o at LB if he's available. Matches what I have been hearing.
How about Manti Te'o?

Before the Bowl games started I had Te'o as the top prospect and i wanted him as our LB for the past two years now. If they think he can handle the pressure of coming to chicago and replacing a HOF then i would love the pick.

Re: Make your prediction
Personally, I don't want Te'o.
I'd much rather see us pick Eifert, should we get lucky enough for him to fall to us, or address a CB need.

Re: Make your prediction
Actually, I would not want to see Te'o attempting to cover Eifert across the middle for the Pack.
I tend to believe that we would not fare well in that exchange. Te'o is more an old school LB that would do well years ago when team relied more on a running attack (although he did not perform well at all against the nasty crimson tide running game).
We are in an a new era in the NFL where a passing attack is utilized more prevalently, and ironically the TE position is being highlighted prominently and effectively.
My preference would be to join the fray and make our offense more dynamic and difficult to stop by adding great pass catching TE like EIfert, than a projected primarily run dependent LB in Te'o. Based on his draft day and college day times, he will have problems containing fleet footed TEs across the middle.
