cant wait to see him this sunday. it sucks that melton went down but this undrafted kid is gonna be a real steal for the bears. this kid is gonna replace melton because everybody knows he is not coming back next year.

He certainly won't be making nearly as much $$ as he was. He'd probably get closer to what DJ Williams and James Anderson received this year... an unguaranteed "prove it" contract. Also, don't forget, Lance Louis was probably our best lineman last year and it certainly is no given that he is fully healed from a similar injury almost a year later which is why he didn't stick with the Fins.

He's not going to get 8mil but he's getting more than whatever Williams is getting paid

What is even the incentive of bringing melton back.? If we are still starting DJ williams we already know they can not co'exist as one was average and the other was horrible(Melton) together.

Melton hasn't been horrible, he's been the only linemen making plays. And if you pick one over the other you take melton over Williams.

Actually he was horrible until his last game where he might have cracked average by some stat i saw from PFF. (Pro football focus.)

There was some guy last week that said he would be pissed if the bears gave up more than 16 pts to the bad steeler offense which i responded that this bears d would have trouble allowing only 16 points to any nfl offense. The bad steelers then went on to score a touchdown more than 16. And that when we were healthy.
Enter the LIons at home. The Bears have been utterly torched by good wide receivers so far this season. Holding the LIons to 16 might not be possible if they play like they did vs Pitt.

u know what perhaps i should stop posting if i have such a pessimistic outlook on the bears. Because this is a pretty big cloud for me. It doesnt make me feel good to bash my fav team but one of my worst fears bore into fruition by losing a key probowl player because we decided to make the defense more reactionary than aggressive.

DJ Williams was good last game. He's probably finally getting in game shape so he will be fine.

I think Melton was still average this past game and Nate Collins who is replacing him was outplaying Melton up to this point so this should actually make our Dline better.

I like Minter.

With that said, you guys realize that protections were sliding more to Melton than Peppers in the first three games??? He was double teamed on almost every play and triple teamed on a few. I'll try to find the article where I read that.

And what do you mean Williams and Melton can't coexist?? That makes no sense.

Gotta see what the rook can do. As for Melton: while I think he was struggling, I think he was also demanding double teams by reputation. Could be a plus for his replacement, as they may look to double our ends instead. If his replacement is ineffective though, that lets the other teams double Paea, who's been doing well, and/or Peppers and Wooten, who have already had trouble getting to the QB.
