Peppers is pissing me off. And I wish we still had someone on the field who could make all the defensive calls. Just another game that shows we should've brought back Urlacher.

idk if urlacher would be a factor with the new defensive coaching. Which now we are practically the worst. Urlachers Ds also struggled with crap coordinators like babich.
It would be great to see some accountability on that piss poor side of the ball.

Here are my Grades for these Bears.
Coaching - D

Trestman isn't the offensive Genius that the media claimed him to be. He's a decent offensive coordinator but has his shortcomings. There are too many play calls where receivers are bunched into a small zone giving the defense an opportunity to cover with less defenders. Matt Forte does not get enough carries in the 1st quarter and Martellus should have many more opportunities in the middle of the field, not just the redzone. As for Tucker, he needs to realize his safeties are not productive and make the appropriate changes from Conte and Wright to Walters and Steltz. The other issues is that he has to dial up more run blitzes with the inside guys being decimated. Wooten needs to be left on the outside where he is most effective and play Minter more.

Quarterback - B

Jay Cutler once again has trouble being consistent throughout an entire game. They always talk about playing 60 minutes but it seems Cutler takes the first 20 to find himself. Sometimes it takes him 45 minutes which is unacceptable. The defense wouldn't spend so much time on the field if the offense could function properly on it's first 3 series. McCown surprised me with his mobility and his arm strength. I did like the fact that his first, second and third look wasn't always toward Marshall. At some point the other receivers have to be the first option with Marshall as the decoy. If Cutler understood this early in the game I believe the teams first couple of series would be more effective toward keeping the defense off the field.

Running back - A

Matt Forte is a beast when called upon. Problem is that Trestman isn't calling on the beast as much as he should. Give this guy 20-25 carries a game and at least 5 targets in the passing game. I do think it's time to see Ford in a series or two instead of the slogging Bush. I would love to see both Forte and Ford out on the field in certain passing situations.

Offensive line - A

The two rookies are still as stout as can be for rookies. The one sack on Cutler was more on his inability to check down instead of waiting on Brandon. The pass blocking on both sides of the line is solid and the run game is coming along. The one issue I have is that there are too many runs to the left side that aren't nearly as successful as the runs to the right side. Slauson is an unsung player on this line but he is as solid as everyone else.

Special teams - B

Despite the miss today Robbie is still as good as Gould. Devin is valuable in so many ways that his presence alone causes major kicking problems for the other team. The tackling and scheme for the unit needs to be enhanced but that will come over time with all the rookies on ST. I believe the blocking is getting better and the lanes are being filled much better.

Defensive line - D-

The only reason it's not an F is because of the injuries and the fact that Wooten is playing out of position. Peppers will continue to struggle because he's seeing triple and quadruple teams. I've seen him being doubled off the line and then a third person chipping or laying into him. The journey men are playing as journey men and no.99 just isn't strong enough to do anything consistent. He needs a bull rush and without the strength it's not happening. He probably should be moved to outside LB and get into pass coverage. He's not even close to Clay Matthews because of his lack of strength. Time to give Minter more reps and move Wooten back to the outside.

Linebackers - C+

Briggs is a great linebacker but is still missing too many tackles. He needs to understand that he can't try and blow up the runner and if he misses his back is covered because it isn't. The other guys just aren't rallying around the ball as in previous years. Bostic is good on the outside running plays but he loses his lane way too many times on runs up the middle. I believe Anderson played as well as he could given his assignments.

Secondary - F

There are too many times guys are looking into the backfield and not tracking their man. The worst thing that has happened is that Tim Jennings learned how to catch. He now looks to jump the route too much and is getting burned up the field. He has to understand that Conte is never going to cover the backside and Major Wright is a run player more than anything. Tillman looks like the knee is truly bothering him and he too should know by now that Conte doesn't have his back. Conte starts the play playing too far back and then he backs up another 20 yards. I've yet to see him come over and break up the sideline deep pass or the pass over the middle. That's a lack of skills and not just the coverage being called. Bad coverage calls along with bad coverage skills is a disaster waiting. Time to give Anthony Walters his shot and time to bring the coverage back onto the field, not in the stands.

It's 11am here and im still freaking out that we lost because of the defense. Cant believe it.

It's been notorious that the defense was strugling all season long. They can't force stops. All they can do is create turnovers and allow yards and yards. The Redskins converted 0.530 on 3rd down.

Josh McCown and the offense played BIG TIME. And we threw it away. Brutal.

Errisal, I have to disagree on Trestman. Under Martz, McCown looked like horse ****. Under Trestman, he looked above average. That's play calling, not a sudden Rennaisance by a journeyman QB

We will be going into week 9 still without an identity.
If the team itself doesnt know who they are how the hell are we supposed to know.
It feels like we are watching a rebuilding project, not a a supposed contender. Yesterday lose put the bears in the pretender bracket. If they even qualify for that anymore.

He missed.

I mean whats wrong with his trap?

It's open way to much for a punter. Too many opinions on management and financial decision of the GM for me this season.

To be honest my anticipation for this season was lower than seasons past.
-We were thought to have reached on our first round pic, but it looks like a good pick now, was questionable then.
-Replaced good defensive players for mariginal players (DJ Williams and turk mcbride for Url and Izzy.)

-The mel tucker signing

-Not even properly replacing webb going into the season and having to resort on relying on a 5th round rookie.

-Alienating us from our best player in 20 years.

-Melton the franchise tag. Which some say was a good move in retrospect, i say safe not smart. It ate up much of their cap. Great u get melton on a rental. He has no long term security nor do we. Wedid that with forte, he makes the probowl, we miss the playoffs. great.

-Cutting carimi. really wth happened there?

This all happened in the offseason so while sure many of us were happy to see football again, i for one wasnt all that excited and it was like await and see. And we waited and saw and this is what we have.

Heck our players are pointing the finger and blaming each other on the sidelines. Andit not just heated football communication its just confrontational.
They are turning into the heat without the talent or off cap the business deals. They are barely a team.

This would be like the bulls missing Drose ,luol and noah at the same time floating around .500% in the middle of the season.

Cutler=rose - most importantplayeront he team
Melton =Noah -allstar
Briggs=luol -allstar
