Bears scored some points but it was the D that set the O up with a short field on a few of those. O never got anything going on their own. Because of that I place more blame on the O for this loss, however D the still can't stop a high school varsity team

Re: Game 5 - Bears at Panthers- treading in deep water
When you see a pattern emerging of a team trending to blowing games late, it comes down to coaching. Carolina clearly had their answers by the end of the first half and were starting to show us what they were going to do. The Bears did not adjust at all on either side of the ball. They just continued to do what they do.
Cutler is not an elite QB. He and his offense still depend on a defense to carry them and give them the ball in a primo position. They depend on the defense to get their own takeaway after our offense gives the ball away. This offense can't carry anything. They've been figured out and, thus far, they have not answered the call. They might be able to bum slay against some mediocre teams this year, but the better teams are going to adjust and exploit all of their holes.

I think you're also seeing how important a healthy Brandon Marshall is to this offense. If he's on top of his game, that pass to Holmes is likely to BMarsh and he's probably able to convert that, or at least deflect it so it doesn't get interecepted over his head.
He likely isn't near 100% and the offense is struggling because of that. I still can't beileve that they brought him back in for that Jets game.

Re: Game 5 - Bears at Panthers- treading in deep water
It hurts me to say this, because I've been a big Cutler fan and supporter, but Bears need to do what the Cowboys are doing.
Lean on Forte, like the Cowboys are leaning on Murry. Make it a 50/50 game. Sure if they are down they should let him go to Marshall (when he's healthy), Alshon and Bennett, but maybe they need to go to being a more balanced attack.
Maybe it's an over reaction and the offense will get things right, but it's just so frustrating when you're moving the ball well for the most part and they end up shooting themselves in the foot because of unforced turnovers.

Obviously the terrible passes by Cutler being the key. Seriously, Bears are arguably 2 terrible decisions away from likely being 4-1 right now.
But it's not the time for baby steps. Not only is this team in win now mode, but the vast majority of its cap is dedicated to the offense.

If that's the case, then they shouldn't have signed him to the big deal. But they did, so there's no excuses not to give him the reins. It would benefit him, anyways, IMO.

Exactly. Honestly, it seems like the Bears practice how to make stupid mistakes and how to play right into the opposing team's hands!
Hey guys, we are going to play really slowly even though our run game is crap. We want to give the defense as much time as possible so they can get perfectly set. We want them to be able to sub in players so that their defense is fresh. And we want to snap the ball as much as we can with less than 5 seconds left on the play clock; that way, teams don't have to worry about a snap count and can fly off the ball without a care in the world (somewhat related note, have we drawn a single offsides this year?).
Defensively, even when we are actually playing well, we'll go into full prevent mode even though we are only up 14 with an entire half to go. That way the other team can score an effortless touchdown and reclaim all the momentum. Again, the goal is to play into our opponent's hands! Execute!

Seemed like Cutler was alluding to the fact that they take so much time to get a read on the defense. But to me, the best offensive teams in the league are running no-huddle or close to it - to take advantage of the defense and not let them get settled or subbed out.

I'm finally starting to lose faith in Cutler so maybe he'll start performing at an elite level.

The funny thing about Cutler's season so far is that in general, he's not having a bad year.
If you would have told me that at this point Jay would be on pace for 4100 yards, 38 TDs, completing 68% of his passes and a 95 rating, I would have been thrilled. The problem obviously is the inopportune interceptions.
