Re: Bears trade up, draft Leonard Floyd
What are the chances of him being able to come to pre-season training camp at around 250lbs?

Depends on his ability to avoid testing positive. If so, able, he can avoid being broken in half.

Fair enough.
Also, would it be unreasonable to expect 10 or more sacks from him next year? IMO, he should be very productive considering his age AND the fact that we spent a top 10 pick (and 4th rounder) on him.

Probably.
Vic Beasley who is even more of a workout monster than Floyd could only get 4 last year. It's not a position with guys coming in ready-made because most of them just aren't strong enough to reliably keep them in for the majority of the game. That's an easy run his way almost most every time. He probably won't be strong enough to reliably set the edge until his 2nd year at least. He's a high IQ player though so I have high hopes for him.

Not a fan of the pick but I'll reserve judgment until I see him in pads and during the season. I was all out but after reading some profootballfocus blurbs on him and the advanced stats support he has some talent. I just think at 23 going on 24, it'll be hard for me to envision Floyd becoming more than a situational player.

I now a few people who have put on a lot of muscle in relatively short amount of time (steroid free) so I am sure a pro athlete has the ability to do so. I think it has a lot to do with how many calories you eat a day.

He's around like 235 right now. I doubt if he could put on 15 pounds of good muscle in 2 months without some "help" at the very least. He weighed in at the combine at around 246 and by his pro day all of the water weight was off and he was back to 235. He already mentioned working with the strength coach though so no doubt he'll be there by next season.

He said he was at 240 during his introductory press conference.

And if he is only a situation player, that would be a big disappointment. He has to be an elite player considering where the Bears took him.
