Post#1 » by nnnwt » Sun Jul 8, 2007 7:47 pm

Pujols, Rios final two additions to Home Run Derby field

Pujols and Alex Rios of the Toronto Blue Jays were the final two participants added to the field, Major League Baseball spokesman Pat Courtney said Sunday. The Derby will be held in San Francisco, site of Tuesday's All-Star Game.

A surprise, yet not. I was actually thinking today "I wonder if Rios would enter the derby".

I look forward to seeing Pujols though. Just my opinion but I think by the end of his career everyone will say he is the greatest hitter of all time.

That's fantastic. A minor surprise, but fantastic nonetheless. Hopefully he has better luck than when Delgado was in it for us.

I bet when Rios comes up for his turn, the commentators will pretty much be like "who's this guy again?"

And so would the rest of America.

Rios has been great but it's not like he's putting up monster numbers that merits "everybody should know who I am" status.

He could probably challenge anyone as "least known all-star" - maybe the Derby and playing in the game this year may actually boost his status with the casual fan.

It better, this kid's a stud....man I'm glad JP didn't trade him to the Phillies for Jon Lieber.
