I think Pace is alright. Everyone knew the Bears would be a long-term project. Emery left the toybox empty and a lot of the veteran players were unhappy.

The good things:

-The front 7 is much improved.
-The offensive line is solid.
-The run game (even though it's been mediocre this year) is better.
-We may have a franchise QB (jury's out)
-We are drafting better (Goldman, Whitehair, Floyd, Cohen, Howard, Jackson all play key roles on this team).
-Free agent signings have been better (Hicks, Sitton, McPhee, Freeman, Trevethan)

To me, the big misses are the Glennon signing, Kevin White (which isn't Pace's fault when you consider the injuries) and the coach hiring that could've been influenced heavily by ownership. Pace has done enough to stay on board. Long-term, his job depends on what Trubisky becomes. If Trubisky fails, the Bears will be set back even longer.

The Bears are in a tough spot, because they're trying to compete against a prime Aaron Rodgers, a Lions team that has a QB and big offense in place, and a Vikings team that is elite defensively and starting to improve offensively.

Next offseason should be focused on two things:

1. Getting a new coach.
2. Improving skill positions.
3. Improving the secondary.

I don't know that I see the same things you are seeing. The oline was collapsing left and right Sunday. And a sack ended the game in week 1. Injuries also seem to be a major issue with our guys. Both Freeman and kwiatkoski both went out with pectoral injuries early. Our receving corp is considered one of the worst in the league and our DBs don't threaten. Our record will reflect where we are in talent. I'm calling it now, we will be 0-5 to start the season. I acknowledge we have a rigorous schedule and new guys, but alot of these issues have nothing to do with the schedule. Bellamy was dropping passes last season and hasnt improved yet they brought him back.

Last season, our offensive line was solid. Long, Whitehair and Sitton was a good trio and it helped the Bears rank favorably on PFF's top offensive lines. At full strength I don't think the line is a major issue. We could do without Massie though.

Our season looks really bleek, but that's primarily because we're trotting out one of the league's worst offenses, led by a QB who does nothing well. The defense really isn't that bad (though the secondary needs work), but they don't stand a chance when nothing is rolling on the other side.

I tend to agree. I think it's reasonable to figure on about two years to rebuild each unit. Both offensive and defensive units were a mess when Pace took over. He's turned the defense into a top 10 unit and has a good foundation with the o-line on the other side of the ball. Hopefully this off season he can upgrade the skill positions and add some better overall quality.

I understand your frustrations. Lets take a step back though. Glennon has played what...all of 7 games in the last 2 years? He is on a new team, new offense first two games against a super bowl contender and a playoff caliber team with a ton of defensive talent who used to practice against him dailey. I don't see putting all of this on 1 player. If its 1 persons fault its Pace's.

All of it? No. But Glennon is a huge part. Glennon is a 5th year QB who's making rookie mistakes. That's inexcusable. We know what he is. Tampa Bay knew what he was, which is why they tried to replace him twice. There's no point in playing him. There never was.

Ok, even if you guys want to pursue this argument. My question is...who signed him?

Pace is at fault for it. It's definitely a negative on his record and I've acknowledged that. We blew $18.5 million on a QB with no premium talent. It's even worse when you consider the state of our skill positions and secondary.
