IMO DJ Moore will be the first WR taken.

Which projected 1st rnd player (non qb) do you think has the most bust potential?

I say Marcus Davenport. He has all the fixings of a work out warrior.

The more I think about it, first pick will probably be a DB (Ward or Fitzpatrick), unless Chubb miraculously falls to 8.

I was thinking they would take Nelson if he's there, but that only really works if he's a long term LT. You can always find good guards in the 2nd round.

I have a sneaking suspicion the Packers are going to trade up for Fitzpatrick..

I think my top three wants with the 8th pick are
1. Draft Edmunds. Not sure if he'll be a better player than Ward the need is greater and they're pretty close in talent

2. Draft ward. I don't think we have long term solutions at a true number 2 at CB. Prince and Callahan are really good but with Fuller and Ward as our 1a and 1b we could have a legion of boom situation on our hands.

3. Trade the 8th to the Bills for the 12th and 22nd. There's a chance Ward is still here so obviously I take him at 12. If not I take Vita Vea. I think he's athletic enough to play DE. With the 22nd I'd take Rashaan Evans or Josh Jackson. Rashaan Evans reminds me a lot of Ruben Foster. Josh Jackson has the turnover ability we desperately need.

After that post I'm starting to convince myself that Vea is a legit candidate at 8. We didn't go after any DEs and we need a starter (unless they think Bullard can step in). He's definitely athletic enough to play DE. And it's become Paces MO to be secretive and Vea hasnt been mentioned to the bears at all.

Trading back is usually the smart thing esp if you have alot of holes to fill. I dont see a QB being available at 8 though. Its rumored Cards, Bills and mabe even the Saints will try and trade up to top 5 to get a QB. Otherwise those teams could try taking L.Jackson late in thec1st rnd. If bears could trade back and still get Fitzpatrick or Edmunds that would be awesome.

I finally got around to Harold Landry.

He can get off a block better than any OLB in this class...at least the ones I've checked out.

IMO Landry is definitely under consideration in rnd 1

I haven’t seen much of Landry and I’ve seen plenty of Hubbard. He’s a beast and Ohio st linebackers have a great track record in the nfl

Landry is a better pure pass rusher. but Hubbard is probably slightly better all around

Pace is meeting with all of the top CB's predicted to go in round 1.

In a recent interview with one of the Chicago Sun Times writers, Pace said ideally four QBs would go in the top 7.
also said:
- you can never have enough pass rushers
- conversations with the staff specifically about DE and how they have Bullard and Roy who should ascend. didn't seem to rule out drafting a top DE though
- can never have enough corners. this was in response to questions about bringing back their entire secondary. said they had a top 10 defense and that was in large part because of the excellent starters in the secondary
- interceptions will increase with more pass rushers
- can never have enough pass rushers
- Leonard Floyd and Kyle Fuller are ascending.

definitely seems like pass rush will be targeted at multiple positions. possible additions at DE, OLB and ILB.

that works well because we may get lucky and land Chubb. If not we can grab Edmunds, who is an excecllent pass rusher from ILB. and there are a few good pass rushers that may be available in rounds 2-4: Harold, Hubbard, Key, Carter, Ejifor, Green, Holland, Sweat, Nwosu. Carter had a very similar role to Leonard Floyd at Georgia.

Ideally we would somehow get another 2nd, 3rd or 4th round pick without trading back in the first. If Chubb or Nelson are there its a no-brainer, otherwise Edmunds is a great pick as well.

But we need 2 starting pass rushers (plus depth at OLB) and ideally 2 blockers.

Chubb/Edmunds, Connor Williams, one of the OLB, and a guard would be ideal as our top four picks.
